Burnhopeside Hall, hotel in Lanchester

Set within 15 km of Beamish Museum and 25 km of MetroCentre in Lanchester, Burnhopeside Hall offers accommodation with seating area.

I thought the breakfast was very good (vegetarian) and it was all made/delivered very promptly. I was pleased that I wasn't expected to be too early for breakfast!!! I appreciated the flexibility of not having to give a firm arrival time (as I wasn't sure when booking). I also appreciated the central heating being on (even thought it was May .... ) as it had rained heavily and, outside, it felt damp. The offer of being given local recommendations to eat was also welcomed, even though I didn't need it. Fresh milk in the room was great.

Beamish Park Hotel, hotel in Lanchester

Surrounded by countryside, The Beamish Park Hotel features an award-winning restaurant and luxury bedrooms with flat-screen TVs. Just 10 minutes from Newcastle, there is free Wi-Fi and free parking.

First room was not pleasant as windows didn't open, bed was 2 singles pushed together and phone didn't work. Asked to be moved and was moved to a ground floor room which was better but the rooms are an odd colour choice (red & yellow / orange) and felt dated and well used. Bed was comfy and shower was good but needs a refresh and modernising.

This was my first time in this area, I stayed in a rural environment and the views were amazing. I got lucky with sunny days and traveling around the area, the rolling hills were very eyecatching. Lovely views from the hill tops, there are lots of hills, not so good if you have trouble getting about, however driving around and taking in the views in the quiet country lanes was a big highlight for me. The towns are easy to find and are clustered around a twenty mile area, which means you don't have to travel far to see new things or visit a different towns.

Lanchester was a lovely location with easy access to Durham.

Lanchester was a lovely location with easy access to Durham. There were a variety of restaurants, we chose to eat in Clinton's which was next door to our accommodation, the old post office. The food was the best restaurant food I have had for a very long time. I would highly recommend the area and the facilities I used.

Really, we were not staying in Lanchester itself, but it does have two good restaurants and a good range of local shops, and there is free parking throughout, and there is a bypass that keeps unwanted traffic out of the town centre.

We didn't have much time to explore Lanchester only Burnhopeside Hall and had dinner at the Jolly Drover . We had visited nearby Beamish open air museum . The day and over night stay was brilliant . We definitely wished we had stayed for longer and we will definitely return .

Beautiful property, period features and so many antiques. Every room was very impressive. Most comfortable bed ever experienced in a hotel. The grounds were well maintained and ideal for my dog, Peggy. The welcome we received from our host Phil including a tray of tea, a chat about our needs, he was genuinely interested in us as guests, we immediately relaxed in such beautiful surroundings. Phil also cooked a breakfast to die for…at a time convenient to us. Would recommend this hotel to friends & family. Thank you Phil.

Loved the room, bed was great toilet and shower were clean, the food was good and extremely cheap. I bought a New Yorker burger and chips. The staff were friendly and great hosts and the Inn it self is situated about 5 mins from a nature reserve which was an added bonus. Really enjoyed my short stay here.
