Enjoy everything Newcastle has to offer from this classic hotel in the city centre.

The hotel was very nice reception, but my room was just a basic level we thought the bed was comfy but the bath was a bit on the small side but they was a shower over the bath they was no hair dryer for my partner to use so she had to go out with wet hair and we put the cleaning tag on the door for the room to be cleaned but we did get our room cleaned the staff were very friendly and helpful the bar in the hotel was cheap on comfy and warm with is nice

Ramada Encore Newcastle-Gateshead, hotel in Newcastle upon Tyne

Just 300 metres from the Gateshead Millennium Bridge and the Baltic Art Centre, this modern hotel has a stylish on-site restaurant, bar, gym, and free Wi-Fi throughout.

The hotel is bang in the middle of a very busy city centre with lots of traffic and noise surrounding it, especially in the morning traffic hour. The hotel itself is pleasant, comfortable with sufficient parking. The staff are very kind and friendly always willing to assist and help which is an added bonus. The rooms are large, roomy with all that one needs. The rooms are sound proof so if you have the window closed you hear nothing from outside and a good night's sleep is 100 per cent guaranteed. The manager, Richard, was very accommodating and very friendly ensuring my stay was good and went out of his way to make me feel valued as a guest. Kudos to him and his staff, especially Zak who is superbly tall and just very pleasant and helpful.

FAQs about hotels in Newcastle upon Tyne

The Spirit of the North

A former Industrial Revolution hub, Newcastle has reinvented itself into a vibrant, forward-thinking city. Although no longer brewed here, Newcastle Brown Ale, or Newkie Brown, is synonymous with the city, so it’s no surprise that the nightlife is fantastic.

From the O2 Academy to the Sage Music Centre, the Newcastle music venues are among the best in England. The city also has a thriving arts scene, including The Biscuit Factory – Britain’s largest original art store.

Equally as good is the Newcastle shopping. The Central Arcade is in an attractive Victorian building, and across the River Tyne in Gateshead is the Metro Centre, Europe’s largest shopping and leisure complex. Indeed, these 2 cities have a healthy rivalry that plays out in sport, architecture and, sometimes, the bizarre.

Gateshead boasts the Angel of The North, a huge statue that is already its most recognised (and controversial) symbol. While in Newcastle the Vampire Rabbit sits above a door near St Nicholas’ Cathedral. Newcastle United Football Club has the most prestigious record, but Gateshead Stadium has seen many a star compete at its international athletics meets.

To the west of the city are some remains of Hadrian’s Wall and further north is Newcastle Airport. See Booking.com for a range of accommodation all over this happening city.

Very loud, dirty, city with too much traffic, especially during the morning rush hour. Did not enjoy my experience of Newcastle and thankfully, spent only one night. Was eager to get away from the noise and pollution.

Very easy to travel by Metro from airport into Newcastle central station. We were visiting for Strictly Come Dancing at the Utilita arena, location of the Leonardo hotel to the arena a few minutes walk. City centre walkable in minutes. Eldon Square shopping handy. We brunched at the Hard Rock Cafe a 10 minute walk along the quays.

Accommodation was fine but having terrible trouble getting my refund back. I’d of given a higher rating if it wasn’t that my £100.00 has been kept for a month and no signs of it still. Place is brilliantly located, clean, and fine for 1 night stop over….but expect to pay 100.00 more than you are advised.

A great city with plenty to do in the city and close by.

A great city with plenty to do in the city and close by. Recommend buying a one day pass for the Metro (£5.90) and travelling to South Shields (the museum looked really interesting but was closed on Sundays), then the ferry to North Shields (some really good restaurants and bars along Fish Quay, then walk to Tynemouth where there is an excellent market at the station every Saturday and Sunday, then Metro to Whitley Bay.

We needed a place close to the airport to catch an early flight out for Canada and this fit the bill just right. Not the Waldorf by any means but the staff were very friendly, the room was clean and quiet. And it was good enough to put your head down for the night. VERY limited wifi though. Great access into Newcastle too...but we didn't us that option while there.

The hotel was ideally situated to access Newcastle city Centre . The metro was a 5 minute walk away and the train only took 5-10 minutes to get to the city centre. We had a quiet well appointed room. The breakfasts were very good with plenty of choices. We ate in the hotel restaurant twice , the food was very good with prices in line with most cities.

Great hotel, in the lovely Jesmond area of Newcastle. Nice clean comfortable room. Near enough to the city centre to easily get in, but far enough out for some peace and quiet too. Close to lots of bars and restaurants too. Staff were very friendly and helpful, and the breakfast buffet was delicious.
