Super great “ryokan” hotel located above mountain river. If you like to get real Japanese hospitality and experience - that’s the place.
Super tasty Japanese food served as “kaiseki” - basically chefs table, breakfast and dinner. You really don’t need any lunch over there.
Hot springs right next to your door.
Unbelievably friendly and professional service.
Lots of walking routes through the forest.
Hotel Sora is 300 metres from Shuzenji Temple and 2.5 km from Shuzenji Train Station.

Very traditional ryokan managed my an old lady. Very nice and good attention to details. Come on time they are not open before.
The onsen are on first arrived first serve basic. They have 3 onsens. One natural outside. 2 more in out with view.
Oh my the food ! She kept bringing more and more wonderful food. 3 fresh sashimi fish, broth to cook, a trillion of small dishes. Mostly sea theme and so fresh. Wonderful. Just for the restaurant you shall go there. And the plume wine is a pleasant experience.
Very good money / value.

The location is awesome! Being in the 🛁 bath tub of the private onsen room, with the sound of the waterfall soothing me, with the backdrop of the beginning of the Fall season colored leaves, was awesome!

The breakfast and dinner meals were amazing! Always on time! The amount of thought that goes behind the presentation and delivery of dishes was unbelievable. We felt like royalty. The level of service was excellent. I always left the dining room feeling full and happy with the meals. Also really liked the complimentary drinks in the main lobby area.

Beautiful house in rural location. A large traditional breakfast with many dishes. Very kind and friendly host. Small but clean and attractive onsen. Perfect.
Beautiful surroundings, great location with a view on Mount Fuji. Members of staff are friendly. I would stay there any time when on Izu peninsula.
Our private onsen (in the room) was great!
Great location, parking available. So many options for baths and plenty of private baths to choose from in addition to the large public bath. All facilities were very clean. Other activities available including table tennis etc. if you had children this would be a great place to stay as there are dedicated play areas, sports areas, reading corners and more for them.
Both dinner and breakfast were very delicious with lots of choice. The room itself was very spacious and clean.
The location is great. Easy to get via public transport. And you're right next to the river in a beautiful little town steeped in history. The staff are incredibly helpful. They spoke a little bit of English. The place didn't sell food (unless you prepaid for breakfast) but the staff gave you a list of all the places in town that were open for lunch and dinner (the cafes don't open until 10).
The location was great, next to the beach, and the rooms has seaside view. We went right at the end of Golden Week, so the ryokan was pretty empty—it felt like we had almost everything to ourselves. We had the Japanese-style room with a renovated bathroom, which was nice. The keiseki dinner was good, and some of the desserts at the dessert table that go with the dinner were delicious as well. The private bath was a great experience with a scenic seaside view.
Perfect location, the friendliest staff I've ever met, a lot of recommendations, cool atmosphere and mixing modern with tradition as the building is a renovated old Japanese house. The town is famous for hot springs but most of the hotels would have been pretty expensive, so I'm very happy that Hostel Knot exists so that budget travellers can explore the lovely town too.
