Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Australiaaccomodations are mostly old but it adds to the charm. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND booking dinner at the hotel. Dinner options locally are non existent. We have room noodles twice as no place could allow us in. TIP. Have a big Ramen lunch and eat noodles in your room as it is filling and cheap. Buy up big at 7/11 in Nagano, across the rd from the bus stop.
great location. near bus stop. breakfast was nice. Shiga resort is one of the best on Honshu. massive resort and mostly all linked together. This is where i'll be taking my family in jan 2025.

Singapore6am every morning the heaters come on which means very loud banging for 2 minutes as the metal pipes expands. The breakfast is also limited. Big groups of teenage boy ski schools use the hotel so breakfast and onsen gets busy during peak hours.
Great location for ski in ski out. Nice large rooms and fast wifi. Onsen is also great. Couple than run the hotel couldn’t be more helpful.

JapanOnly two things were less than exemplary. The room was so hot, even with the heating control turned off that I had to open the window to cool off the room and I left it open all night. It is quite a waste of energy, and I was afraid I would wind up sleeping with an intruding snow monkey. Also the onsen water was so hot that it was not relaxing. But I was the only gaijin in there so I may have a minority opinion. Conversely, the sauna was not hot enough.
I liked the whole package. The buffet meals on the half-board plan were plentiful and delicious. The proximity to the ski slopes was exemplary and the prices were fair. The room was better than I expected, with a nice tatami area. All in all, a good ryokan experience with like-minded skiers and families.

New ZealandA bit dated but has everything we needed and pricing was good. The food at the buffet was was also priced well and there are a few restaurants in the nearby area. It was great to be able to put our bags somewhere and use the bath after we had been snowboarding even though we had already checked out.

SwedenThere was a radiator that could start banging in the middle of the night, no idea whats up with that.
Breakfast is simple Japanese keep that in mind, actually very good when youre used to japanese foods. Walk over the road and you have the ski slope. Dont be discouraged by "shared bath" rooms, the Japanese bathhouse is actually very nice and every room has their own toilet. Ski/boot rental was 4000Yen for 3 days. There are restuarants but they are inside other hotels in the areas, be brave and enter its ok.

AustraliaThe room heating was not, as far as I could tell adjustable and was a bit too warm for me at times. The corridors were not heated which meant some people used the corridors as their fridge. Since I was not lingering in corridors not a big deal. Like other places in Shiga the place needs a bit of a facelift, paint and paper to lift it. It has a bar area but its not used as a bar, pity since it has a great outlook and might make a $ if the right person was to run it. School groups use the hotel as a base and since the buffet is used by all some traffic separation would be good, say schools 7am breakfast, guests 7.30 am that might ease the crowding.
The location in relation to the lifts was great. Of a morning down hill to Ichinose Diamond slight uphill to Ichinose Family. Breakfast was buffet and provided a range of fare that varied enough to keep one happy over a weeks stay. Dinner the same deal with optional addition of on table cook pot for Nabe or Shabu. My room 2 beds, tatami area with table and a mountain view. Staff obliging. Large ski/board locker room. This is not a place of gold taps, it provides good on snow accommodation, warm food and a comfortable bed so you can get on with why you are there skiing/boarding. Located short distance from bus stops so you do not have to drag your bags too far.

IndonesiaFirst impressions were not good, as when we arrived at midday the heating and lights were off throughout the hotel (good energy saving, but not so welcoming!) The decor is also very 1980's, and the entrance is not very inviting. But the place grew on us during our stay and we would stay again.
Clean, comfortable and very convenient for Ichinose ski lifts, the Tappa Room (the only bar in Ichinose), Prince Hotel West Wing restaurants and the bus stop. Good onsen/ public bath. Basic but decent breakfast included. After the first day we got the room warmed up really well - heating is on from 3pm to 10am, and is very hot when it's on.
