The bedroom was very presentable. I arrived late and Chris, who lives in this 2 bedroom semi-detached house had communicated very well with me and given me the code to the key safe so that I could enter while he was out for the evening. He kindly told me that I could park on his drive. A very reassuring start. Fresh miilk was kindly provided in the bedroom fridge. Tea and coffee supplied was much appreciated (with shower gel and shampoo)

Fantastic cottage in the heart of Shepton Mallet. Great owners who are really friendly and make everything easy. Cottage is well equipped and everything you need is in place for a relaxing break. Easy parking and great to have separate entrance to get to cottage. Just a shame the weather was a bit too wet to be able to be outside in the terrace area.

We left Maplestone this morning sadly. We have had the best time. Alan ( the host) greeted us on our arrival with coffee and cake in the Garden, which is stunning. Set in a quiet part of the town Maplestone was comfortable and friendly. Alan is very knowledgeable about the area. The breakfasts were phenomenal. Bedroom had all facilities required and was spacious and comfortable. We had over eaten one day and decided to have cheese and biscuits in the garden. Alan ensured we had all the crockery, cutlery and glassware we needed for our impromptu picnic. We will definitely br back and would recommend to anyone

Very spacious modern apartment in a fantastic country pub. Very friendly and helpful staff. Great food and drink in the pub. Much better than staying in some corporate hotel.

Tired old hotel with rooms with peeling paint, broken cupboards and windows and dirty curtains. Had to go up 4 flights of stairs to get to attic room that was being used by the construction staff renovating the spa. Food was limited choice and of porr quality for the money that was being asked and charged. No phone in the room so had to climb up and down 4 flights of stairs to get any service. Issues not addressed and had to check out early, extremely poor hospitality. Do not tale bookings if you cannot provide a basic level of service.

Shelton Mallet seems to be a good representation of smaller, rural communities in Southern England. Beautiful surrounding countryside and closeness to some additional cities of interest such as Wells and Glastonbury. Several good restaurants were recommended by the owners of the inn. Roads in the town can be a bit tight.

It is in a good spot for touring around Dorset etc. Very quiet little town with not much to do. There is a Greek restaurant and a cafe that opens during the day. The Swan is one of the nicest pubs.

The Bath and West ground is literally just a mile away. Local facilities for shopping are also close by. If the weather is good there are beautiful walks and things to do. Where this is, you would definitely need a car to make the most of the surrounding area.

We loved visiting Cheddar Gorge, Glastonbury town and the Tor, Wells and Hauser & Wirth Somerset, which were all just short drives away. We also walked into Shepton Mallet one evening and had a great time watching live music at the Art Bank Cafe. The cottage itself was really lovely and characterful, and equipt with everything you need. We enjoyed going back there after a day of exploring to cook a meal and relax infront of the fire with a movie. Would definitely stay again!
We were impressed with Bowlish House - it is an attractive building with some impressive artwork and furniture. We were upgraded to a suite at no extra charge because it was available- a lovely gesture - and a lovely suite, including a free standing bath looking out onto gardens.
There was nothing too much trouble for Nicola - very friendly and welcoming, advised on local amenities, provided excellent breakfast.
We would revisit if we were back in the area.
I've stayed here before and was very pleased with all aspects so booked again. This time was the same. Excellent in all areas. It's fantastic value for money with clean, well appointed rooms and the best thing about it is the staff. Friendly and accommodating. Laid back but professional at the same time so that you feel very much welcome and looked after. Definitely booking again and have already recommended to family and friends.
Not luxury but absolutely perfect. Very clean and cosy cottage. The host was lovely and very welcoming. The location is very quiet and sort of in the middle of nowhere. We used the bbq both nights. We didn't use the wifi so cannot comment. There is a little area in the garden overlooking the field where we had breakfast in the mornings. The kitchen and living room area was a great size, lots of space to do stuff. Just perfect.
I thought the building was amazing and had both age and the modern necessities needed for a perfect stay.
The room foe the price beat the hotels in the same bracket considerably. We had both breakfast and dinner there and i must say we have no complaints on either especially the dinner which was lovely. We will 100% be back due to the amount of family activities in the area and we have found somewhere lovely to stay.
The Breakfast was a Full English / Cereal / a few other bits that were perfect for the morning start. The Staff were the making of the Hotel as they were lovely to talk to and informative about the area. The evening meal was lovely and meant that I did not need to go out of the hotel for a Pint and a good meal. The rear hotel garden is lovely to be in on a nice day.
An exceptional place to stay. Alan the owner was friendly and helpful at all times, and he cooked a superb breakfast, catering well for vegetarians!
We had the Garden Room which was lovely, spacious and well equipped.
The house is well located, Shepton Mallet being just a few minutes walk away.
We could not fault this place, it is highly recommended.
This house is huge the pictures don't give it justification. The kitchen and dinning area is ideal it can accommodate plenty of guests. The property owners live at number 1 which is normally off putting but the was very accommodating and only intervened to offer something or Cater for us. I would definitely recommend we had a amazing weekend
A lovely homely cottage to stay in to visit Somerset. The cottage has been really well thought out and we enjoyed both the inside lounge area and outside on the patio. We saw some lovely wildlife including an owl and deer in the garden and the cats were so sweet! We would love to stay at the cottage again.
Breakfast was great.
Chatted with the chef and his partner the night before. They were lovely.
The room was a bit dated, but very clean. I would have liked some plugs and bed side lights next to the bed, but it didn’t spoil our stay.
If I’m back in the area I will definitely come and stay again.
What a great find !
Super spacious cosy apartment right in the centre of Shepton Mallet. Well equipped too
Very comfortable and clean , lovely ambiance and super friendly and helpful host
Lovely garden area in the sun to sit out too !
staff were lovely and very pleasant, location was good for us going to a wedding at Pennard House but Shepton Mallet is like a ghost town. Super king size bed was very comfortable, plenty of hot water
location of the property was perfect for me near to the Shepton Showground. Lovely old building with what appeared to be a fresh refurb with feature Well in the bar area.
Staff were lovely and hotel is nice, however found the hotel quite pricey for what it was and also having to pay for the spa on top which is an extra £30 for 2 of you.
