Our guests often describe our accommodation as 'charming and unique.' Courtyard Apartment has proudly earned a 4-star rating from Visit Britain. It's located on the second floor of our 400-year-old market townhouse right in the heart of Shepton Mallet, and we offer a dedicated off-road parking space for our guests. The historic city of Wells is just 4 miles away, while the mystical town of Glastonbury is a mere 8 miles from our doorstep. Our accommodation is designed for two people, featuring a bedroom with twin beds. Additionally, we offer the option of a sofa bed to accommodate up to two more guests for occasional use. For those who enjoy outdoor relaxation, we have a charming roof garden. Upon request, you can also make use of our outdoor furniture to enjoy those delightful summer evenings al fresco. It's important to note that due to the age of the property, guests with limited mobility should be aware of metal steps leading up to the apartment and a spiral staircase within the apartment leading to the bedroom.
Hello, I'm Ruth, and I've been a lifelong resident of Shepton Mallet. I share my home with my partner, Dean, and we have three grown-up children as well as a beloved dog named Marley. In my leisure time, I thoroughly enjoy taking long walks in the beautiful countryside surrounding Shepton Mallet. The Mendip Hills and the nearby areas offer a plethora of picturesque trails, and to make your exploration easier, I've thoughtfully included an Ordnance Survey map in the apartment, featuring all the delightful walks in this region for you to discover. Furthermore, I'm passionate about both yoga and Tai Chi and have the pleasure of teaching both practices within our local community throughout the week.
Shepton Mallet is a tranquil, historic market town, steeped in history. You'll find regular historical walks and talks available, which you can inquire about at our local Tourist Information Center situated at the top of town. One notable piece of our history is the Cornhill Prison, the oldest prison in England, which has only recently closed its doors. If you're fortunate, you might still have the opportunity to experience a ghost tour or a regular tour before it is transformed into housing, sadly marking the end of an era. Beyond its historical significance, Shepton Mallet serves as an ideal hub for various travel, exploration, and entertainment ventures. We're just 25 minutes away from the enchanting Longleat and a mere 50-minute drive from the iconic Stonehenge. Moreover, the world-renowned Glastonbury Festival takes place right on our doorstep at Pilton Worthy Farm, a mere 2 miles away.
