The location was perfect (close to my mother's carehome), and we had a fabulous walk before dark, and a visit to the *remarkable* church in the village. It is a magical place, the pub/bar and location especially, and we did enjoy dinner in the restaurant.

FAQs about hotels in Oxford

City of Dreaming Spires

Boasting magnificent academic heritage, Oxford is a beautiful city where Gothic spires intermingle with medieval colleges. Comprising England’s oldest university, most of the 38 unique colleges are sadly only viewable from the outside. Two visitable ones are Magdalen College, considered one of the most beautiful, and Christchurch College whose quadrangle was used in the 1st Harry Potter film. Its cathedral choir also sings evensong.

Other notable colleges are Balliol and Merton, the 2 oldest, while Hertford College has the Bridge of Sighs. Next door is the cavernous Bodleian Library, overlooking the round Radcliffe Camera, the city’s best-known landmark.

The university also has a botanical garden and the best Oxford museums, including the Ashmolean Museum and Natural History Museum, where swifts nest in summer.

Unsurprisingly for a student town, it has lots of bars and restaurants. Oxford shopping is also good and includes England’s oldest covered market, brightly coloured High Street shops, and the Clarendon and Westgate shopping centres.

Whether you arrive by road or fly into London Oxford Airport, don’t leave without trying Oxford punting. In contrast to rival Cambridge, you punt here by standing in the front (rather than on the back). Easily accessed from the Oxford accommodation on Booking.com, the routes take in the River Cherwell and the Isis (the name for this part of the Thames).

We went for a theatre trip and the show was excellent.

We went for a theatre trip and the show was excellent. The theatre facilities were to notch but priced to match, although nothing out of the ordinary. The city is easy to get around with frequent busses, plenty of scooters to borrow if you're feeling adventurous, but equally feeling perfectly safe to walk around at night coming back from the show. The streets are clean and staring at the beautiful buildings was a big draw. The amount of different places to eat is extensive, and the food at the one we chose was amazing. Again on the pricier side, but it was so good we certainly didn't feel like it wasn't worth the price. A thoroughly enjoyable short break, not enough time to see everything there is to see, but we would have no reservations about visiting Oxford again. It's a wonderful place!

Oxford is amazing! Great places to eat, visit and take photos of - highly recommend! We did the Hop on Hop Off bus - the driver was extremely helpful! We mainly walked as everything is so close but it was good to do the whole bus tour when we first arrived. It includes a walking tour but we forgot about that!

Oxford is a wonderful city with beautiful architecture and history. I enjoyed visiting universities and churches. I love books and this city is full of amazing libraries and book shops. And this city has some great museums and restaurants too. I cannot recommend this place enough. I just love Oxford.

Visiting Christchurch is quite expensive (£75 pp).

Visiting Christchurch is quite expensive (£75 pp). The weather was quite wet and cold when we went but still had a nice stay by visiting the Ashmolean Museum, which was fab. We went around for about four hours but ran out of time. It has four floors and is quite similar to the British Museum in London. Lots of nice shops, lots of variety of food/places to eat and drink. Plenty of souvenir shops if you have promised to bring something back.

Unfortunately we've arrived exactly at the time when typhoon has been approaching for western and southern Wales as well as English counties around the Bristol Channel. In Wales gusts of 93mph were recorded overnight at Capel Curig and 92mph Aberdaron. Thus the weather has been rainy and windy, but we could catch some small time around Oxford, and enjoy architecture and streets of it

Everything. The staff were extremely friendly, except for one girl who worked the bar in the evening, she was very miserable. Daniel on the reception desk was lovely as was Alfie who worked the bar in the evening. The location was great because the park and ride was literally over the road so we walked there and got the bus straight into Oxford City Centre. The food was great, the breakfast had plenty of choice and was always hot. We ate at the hotel in the lounge area every evening and there were plenty of choices on the menu.

You get what you pay for. I knew this and only wanted a bed for the night. Arrived 1pm. Let them know we had all arrived. Then went to Oxford city centre till 5.30pm. Back to hotel and then up the road for a meal. Back at 10.30 pm, tired and ready for bed. 1 nights sleep is all I needed. They gave us bowls, cereal, and milk as we were out at 7am. But declined as know where to keep the milk, overnight in hot rooms. But the thought for us was there, and we appreciate that gesture.

Indian restaurant opposite hotel. Good service and delicious food. Love this hotel. Quirky. Friendly and helpful staff. Our room was clean and good facilities. Slightly smaller than expected. Would book a bigger one next time. Good breakfast- lots of choice. Car park behind hotel. Narrow entrance for my car. Close to city centre- catch a bus from outside hotel. We hired scooters for the day. Easy way to see Oxford.

Location was very central to Oxford University and the city centre more generally. The staff were very helpful on arrival and during my stay. The team onsite arranged for me to drop off my suitcase prior to formal check in, and even took it to my room, some 4 floors up, remembering there's no lift! The team were also super responsive to messages via the Booking.com app. I would recommend this hotel to other travellers.

Fabulous location for exploring the city of Oxford. Rooms were clean, well appointed, comfortable and quiet to sleep in. Great value for money option rather than a pricey city centre hotel. Breakfast was plentiful and tasty. Everyone in the party left very happy with the accommodation choice. Thank you to all the staff.
