In the last 2 months of travelling through Sri Lanka, this is the best place I stayed. Mapa and Kanchana are so nice and welcoming that you feel at home, as a member of their family. They offered me a free pick up and drop off from the bus stationto their homestay and it was very easy to plan my trip when I was there. The place is really quiet, the rooms are new and so clean and the air conditionning is really efficient. I slept so well at this homestay and I felt really safeas a women traveling alone! You have a nice table outside where you can take your breakfeast and dinner or just spend time relaxing. The food is the best I have had in Sri Lanka. One afternoon, Kanchana invited me to look at how she cooked and gave me tricks on how to do things. She use only fresh ingredients from her garden and she even has a youtube channel where she shares some recipe. I discovered a lot of traditional food like mango curry, cashewnut curry, jackfruit, pumpking curry and eggplant. Kanchana was just amazing because I usually don't like raw onions but she adapt all the meals just for me. During the diner, they always offered me more food when I finished my plate. Kanchana packed me my breakfast on the last morning because I was leaving early and she was so nice with me. She offer me some tea in the afternoon and his son helped me to print some documents. Mapa has a really good sense of humor and he answered all my questions and helped me to organize my trip for a really fair price. His brother was my guide for two days and I learned so many things! For the New Year, they invited me to celebrate with their family and I learn so many things about the local culture and they were very generous with me. Just staying in that homestay is a such an amazing Sri Lankan experience, it was the best part of my trip. After I left the homestay, Kanchana wrote to me because I forgot an adaptor. She kept contact with me to help me when I had questions about Sri Lanka.

We loved everything! But the hosts were something extra. They helped us with everything, for example solving a dental emergency, driving us to the bus stop, driving us to a lunch place and organising acitivites. When we arrived we mentioned that we had been to a cooking class in Negombo and that we had enjoyed that a lot. The owner then directly set up a little cooking class for us to do with his family. We were cooking with the family and we had an amazing time and amazing food. If we ever come back to Anuradhapura we will for sure stay here again!

I spent two nights in Amsterdam Tourist Rest and enjoyed them alot. The room was spacious, very clean, nicely furnished and it had everything I needed, including AC, a very big, comfortable bed and warm water. The guesthouse is located about one kilometre from the bus station "New Town" and only a few kilometres from the ancient city, easily reachable by bike, which you can rent at the guesthouse. The host also provided me with lots of helpful informations about the city, busses and so on, he arranged a safari tour to Wilpattu for me for a reasonable price as well as a tuk tuk to the bus station. Besides the breakfast was excellent. :)

We stayed here for 3 nights. Our hosts helped us with planning the visit to the monuments. We highly recommend booking a tuk tuk ride for the evening ceremony, it is an unforgettable experience.
