The pool and villas were kept incredibly clean. The staff were accomodating and generous with their knowledge and time, organising transport to lions rock and our next stop. Breakfast was delicious and such a highlight.

Great place to stay! Sunrise Cottage is beautifully located, surrounded by big green plants and only a short Tuk Tuk ride away to start hiking on the Lion's Rock. Restaurants etc. are in walking distance.
The host is super attentative and nice and helps with whatever you need. He gave us tips, offered rides and organized a driver to our next destination.
Also, he provided a great breakfast every morning.

This little Homestay in Sigiriya is iconic! Our hosts couldn’t possibly have done more to make us feel welcome. They greeted us on arrival and showed us our comfortable room with fab AC. 5 minutes and it was cooled down in there. You then walk out on the veranda to an incredible view of Lion’s Rock. Amazing.
The host provided great recommendations (he actually planned most of our days for us) - everything was perfect. He would drive us into Sigiriya (he insisted!) and organised our safari and scooter for the day. We ate there one night, and enjoyed an amazing family meal which was delicious.
If you want value for money in Sigiriya - stay here!

Fabulous trip to see Sigiriya - we booked our own tuk tuk. Be aware that you probably wont 'finish' at the same car park where you start - you are funnelled past the gift shops to a different car park so we had to find our way back to our driver.
Also considering that most of the dogs we saw in SL were well fed by locals we saw too many v thin dogs here, which was horrid considering the cost of the ticket...
Make sure you go early if possible- large crowds when we were coming out at 8:30am so would have made for a v v slow ascent. If you go early it is lovely and quiet.

Go as early as possible to avoid the crowds and heat. Bring water. Bypass the rock frescos at the top of the spiral staircases. There are guards there and they do not permit photos. You can take the walk way behind the spirals. If there are many people you will only get to see the frescos for about thirty seconds. It is better to view the copies and history at the museum.

wear good shoes to climb the rocky stairs and no need to carry too much water as on the halfway mark, you get drinking water - of course not bottled but potable. Start early in the morning (it opens at 6.30am) so that it is less crowded and less hot. Since at many places, it is a single file climbing up, you may have to wait for a long time if it is crowded. Avoid popular holiday times eg. April which is Sinhalese new year and weekends when even the locals visit it.

Nice and simple rooms, with great breakfast, and the most amazing host! Spoke English well, and gave us lots of tips and tricks. Helped us get on the right bus on the way to polonnaruwa. Hostel is walking distance to Sigiriya rock. Highly recommended.

Friendly and helpful staff, especially Nimna :) location and hotel tuktuks were brilliant for getting around Pidurangala, Sigiriya rock and Dambulla in one day! We had a balcony room, which is split over two levels - the bed is on a mezzanine level upstairs which may not suit everyone tbh and it may be nice to have another sofa or similar on the main level, but we were happy for the 2 nights there! Good value for money. Nice local restaurants (Glowhaven and McCafe) v close by was ideal too…

The hotel is very close to Sigiriya rock and you can be in the pool enjoying that view. The spa is great. My wife did a full body massage and was very happy with the service.

Hotel with the best value-for-price we had in Sri Lanka. We paid around 20€ for one night in a very comfortable and clean room and could use the very clean pool. Breakfast was great. It’s a bit away from Sigiriya rock, but the employees bring you there and pick you up with their tuk-tuk for a reasonable price, same for the transfer to the railway station.
