We enjoyed three wonderful nights at the guesthouse. The room was good, with good beds, a good shower and some extras like a table, several chairs and a rack to hang your cloth. Good airco too.
Wonderful owner and his wife, who did everything to make you feel comfortable. They arranged a safari for us in Wilpattu, on our request, and they did that in a honest and efficient way, without trying to get something out of it for themselves. Very reliable and friendly service.

I have just stayed for a day because I didn’t want to spent...
I have just stayed for a day because I didn’t want to spent around 25 dollars for the ancient cite. But I have walked around and prayed in Siri Maha Bodhi Tree area which is a massive and fascinating place! I have visited some other places such as Isurumuni Royal Temple and even sat down in front of the meditation stone and meditated there for a bit and it’s a very chanting place to be!

The old city and temple complex is huge and takes a long time to walk around. In many parts you are not allowed to wear shoes or hats, so if you don’t want burnt feet, take some socks and wear sunscreen and carry water.

1) No hot water in the shower.

2) A whirring / drilling noise that kept me up all night, perhaps coming from one of the hotel pumps / generators from above. When I enquired about this at reception I was told that “the hotel was full” and my questions as to what it could be were rebuffed with a “goodnight”.
3) There were no batteries in the remote for the tv.
4) Which didn’t make much difference as the tv didn’t work anyway when I swapped out the batteries for the air con.
5) The air con worked but didn’t turn down meaning that I had to constantly turn it on and off.
6) The swimming pool had safety issues in that the side of the pool had a suction hole which sucked people in if they got close. Thankfully it was only me that discovered it and not the kids.
7) our drivers quarters were full of cockroaches and he was asked to give up his fan for a “guest” half way through the night.

It’s a cultural centre but also a real living city, the hosts introduced us to people and we ate at a nice restaurant for ‘locals’. Joining our guide for a temple evening was a surprise and wonderful. The old railway buildings are interesting and watching a monitor lizard strolling down the street was very cool. And of course the ancient city - unmissable. Honestly I’d rather stay here than rush off to the beach.

Amazing and serene location at the lake with a view of Anuradhapura stupas in the distance. The large room with high ceiling was nicely furnished with a balcony facing the lake.
The hotel is in perfect condition as it was built in 2019, the staff very accommodating and both breakfast and dinner were tasty and delicious. We would definitely recommend the local fish cooked in banana leaf. It was such a treat.
We would definitely return to the Lake Forest orest hotel if we come back to Anuradhapura.
The hotel was really nice. The rooms were really cozy, clean and the bathroom was excellent.
The location was also quite easy to access, close to town & the train station and plenty of cheap places to eat around the hotel area.
There was a lot of mosquitoes, but the hotel staff do a lot to keep them away so it's not a bother.
They rent out bikes also which is cool, but didn't use it.
Also if you need a tuktuk to take you on a tour of the sites they know a great tuktuk guy who was great!
What a find. If your visiting Anuradhapura to spend a couple of days temple visiting then this hotel is ideal for a base and somewhere to relax after a few hours in the sun walking around the sites
Its perfect to sit back and relax by the pool with a cold beer and recharge your batteries
A word of warning do not order to much food...the portions are huge and are enough for 2 people to share...I would strongly recommend staying at Saliya Gardens if you visit Anuradhapura

The Hotel can order you a driver and guide for Anuradhapura. That was also a great experience, especially going to the sacred tree Sri Maha Bodhi in the evening.
Homestay Camping was my home in Anuradhapura. I’ve experienced such warm welcoming from the family and that- I will never forget. The beds in the tent are surprisingly comfortable, location is superb to explore both Anuradhapura & Mihintale, and the home cooked meals were simple but healthy and delicious. I highly recommend staying here to experience true Sri Lankan hospitality and be surrounded by nature. I wish I stayed for longer.
The hotel is located in an amazing location and the host upgraded one of our rooms for free because the previous client had cancelled. The views from the balcony are amazing and catching the sun rising over the paddy fields in the morning is a must. The service is extremely friendly and efficient as well. They even went out of the way to help us with some work we had to do in the city, a truly hospitable and comfortable place

Pali was an incredible host. We spent a whole afternoon visiting the sacred places in Anuradhapura and I was so lucky to do it during the full moon fest. Pali share all that energy with me. The place is so comfortable and clean, really good value for the money. I will repeat the next time in Sri Lanka.
