The Hotel is really cozy, everything is new, the beds are really comfy and the Location is excellent! The owner is incredible friendly, she helped us a lot and we felt very welcome- also with our baby! We would stay there again, if we are in the future in Kagoshima.

The room was basic, clean, and efficient, but with many nice touches. In addition to the robe, slippers, shoehorn, kettle, and other common Japanese hotel items, each room also had a folding table (I think?) nestled to the side of the desk, as well as an extension cord. There may have been a few other little extras that escaped my notice, but they seemed to go a few extra steps beyond the usual business hotel. Toyoko is known for its included breakfast, and that was indeed a nice perk. It was very utilitarian: the lobby consists of a check-in front desk that faces you right as you walk into the entrance. To the right the front desk against the same wall are the elevators, but in the remaining space are a few rows of tables and chairs and this is effectively the breakfast area. It's all in one medium-sized room. It was neither spacious nor luxurious, but it was hearty and wholesome. There were about 4 or 5 hot items each day that seemed to divide between western and eastern styles. There was always a couple rice options, some egg dish, and a sausage/meat dish, and on the first morning they had spaghetti marinara. The second morning they had japchae. It was nice that they rotated, but I think on our third and final day, we saw partial repeat among the rotating items, so I wouldn't expect endless diversity over longer stays. The hotel was right across the street from a covered pedestrian shopping street, which itself connected to a food court, a mall, and the downtown train station. It rained every day during our stay, so it was fortunate we were so close to areas offering a rain-free experience. A trolley stop was also only half a block away from the hotel. The room itself was one of my favorites during the trip. I liked the design of it, being both utilitarian yet somehow a little friendly/cozy. I liked the "open" clothes hanger rod, and coat hanger post, and it had plenty of light (including a movable lamp).

The hotel staff spoke an amazing English - which helps a lot - was always helpful when I needed tips or advices. The room was perfectly clean and silent, with brand new furniture. At the last floor there is a small balcony with a magnicent view over Sakurajima dake.
