“The staff were all very kind and hard working. There is a lot of choice in the buffet room. The pasta station in the buffet room was good and generally offered a good selection especially for kids. Concepcion in the breakfast buffet was very nice and polite as was the girl in the egg station. We tried the oriental restaurant one evening and it was very good but portion size was a bit on the small side. The mattress and pillows in the room were comfortable and the bedding was clean and nice. The pool was nice but on sunny and warm days it quickly got busy so we would go to the beach instead as plenty of space - it is a beautiful beach. I agree with the hotel in not allowing people to take food to the beach, soon the birds would make a mess and it would be unpleasant. There were always plenty of security personnel about in the beach and hotel areas which was reassuring because we never felt our belongings would be taken should we leave them in the chair unattended for a bit. The reception staff were never pushy with their timeshare sales and were friendly and helpful. We never got to try the activities (kayak etc) on the beach because we had bad weather at the beginning of our stay so I cannot comment on that. The hotel has a sister property (Maya) a 5 min walk away, we went there one night for our evening meal at the Mexican restaurant which was very good, the waiters there were very nice, here the portion size was pretty big. Overall having looked at the two resorts I am pleased I chose Azteca as it was more suitable to our needs (we wanted a smaller quieter resort with a nice beach and not too far from the airport). The Maya resort seemed louder and a lot more busy with more guests/groups and more entertainment. My daughter loved seeing the wildlife in the resort (agoutis). Handy that a short walk away within the Playacar gated community you can find souvenir shops and an Avis Car rental booth which was great because we rented a car there to further explore.”
“Excellent location, clean and comfortable room and beautiful outdoor dining area! Breakfast was lovely. Just be sure to check the exchange rate when paying”
“Location is 20/10. On the beach, but with easy access to the action on 5th avenue. Very quiet at night - some other spots I have stayed have pounding music into the wee hours.
The cleaning lady did a good job!
Sadly, the "kitchenette" is horrible - only one burner worked, there were insufficient pots, and the fridge wasn't clean.”
“Very nice and friendly enviroment, quality and diverse food, the staff was always very helpful. Many possibilities for entertainment, there are many programs all day :) We would definitely recomend it if you are looking for something other than the hotel jungles in Cancún :)”
