“Given adjoining rooms so our party could be near each other. A clean, spacious air-conditioned room with large bathroom and walk-in shower. Was given an unexpected room upgrade on arrival that included a balcony. The rooftop pool is an amazing oasis in the middle of all the high rise buildings with a fabulous view of the Empire State Building. The hotel staff worked their socks off in all areas. Fabulous hotel!”
“Great location and quiet considering it was so close to Times Square. The breakfast was very busy but the friendly staff had an excellent system to get people seated so we never had to wait long. Lovely spacious rooms and bathrooms.”
“The location was ideal which was right beside Times Square and Broadway. The rooms were a good size and the beds were very comfortable. I would recommend this hotel if you want to be central and be within walking distance of many different attractions.”
“What a find this hotel was for us!
The AKA Nomad is in an excellent location in the NOMAD neighbourhood (North of Madison Square Park) and is a nice, safe neighbourhood with few homeless people and fancy furniture stores scattered around.
It is in a fantastic location - just around the corner from a subway station on the green line and a couple of blocks away from a subway on the yellow line. That said, it's also ideally located to walk to many attractions and is very close to the Empire State Building, Grand Central Station, No. 1 Vanderbilt, The Chrysler Building, Madison Square Gardens, Flatiron building and Bryant Park, with Times Square about a 20 minute walk away too.
Our room was spacious, with 2 comfortable double beds and plenty of shelving and drawers, albeit there was only a very small wardrobe to share between us. There was a fridge in our room, a kettle and a coffee machine, which we made use of every day.
Finally, one of the best things about this hotel was the fabulous staff, who were endlessly cheerful and pleasant and who always had a smile on their faces. They were extremely helpful and friendly and recommended some great places for us to eat, shop and sightsee. It was a delight to make their acquaintance.
Special mentions to Ian, Blake, TT and the Dutch Manager, JW : They were all fantastic people and a credit to the hotel.”
“It is a mere 1 subway stop away from the bustle (and craziness) of Lexington Madison Ave. And I cannot over-emphasise the solace and calm you feel ascending the long escalator from the subway station on Roosevelt Island. A lie on the grass before you hit your hotel is mandatory with the welcoming view. The views continued into my suite where on the 11th (?) floor I had both the expansive Queensboro Bridge view as well as the Manhattan waterfront view. We took the Tramway just once and it was a cute experience (again, lovely views of lower Manhattan) with the best Trader Joes and TJ Maxx just under the bridge. A visit to the rooftop bar (Panorama Room) is a must - tip: if you have kids, go on Sunday before 3pm. I will choose this hotel with its generous room space and cleanliness way above the other 2 hotels I spent time in at Nomad and the Financial District. LOVE!! PS: Excellent service in the dining room.”
