Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaSome check in staff ( elderly male) not very helpful. It appears that check in time is strictly followed ie 3pm and if you happen to arrive early there is little that can be done. No suggestion how to spend your time before 3pm. Perhaps that is the protocol locally. No early check in even if the room is ready.
Location. Spacious room. Good quality buffet

ThailandA good location hotel, a vintage one, yet it's lovely and peacefully for us. We can drive to any attraction places within 15 mins. and a easy parking lot surrounding. We booked for japanese style rooms, it's clean, it's fit us for 3 people, which meet our expectation. Their staffs make our beds during we have dinner, the Kaiseki dinner is very good and we find variety of food for Breakfast with fresh seafood and more. The onsen is good even it's amount of pools not as many as other big hotel nearby yet it's good enough for us.

SingaporeHotel room is dated and thus the carpet has a musty smell. But the hotel has placed an air purifier in the room.
Full and good onsen experience. Dinner buffet spread was awesome. Service was impeccable. Their Yukata was comfortable, much better than other hotel's.

United StatesThe in room AC does not work. I’ve read other reviews noting the same thing. It just weakly blows out ambient room temperature air even at maximum setting. Others in the hotel just leave their door open to get AC air from the hallway, which does work.
Tattoo friendly onsen! The staff goes above and beyond. Walking distance to Hell Valley.

United StatesThe first room we were given had strong smell of tabacco. We requested to change it and got a better equipped room but it smelled of cigarette ash. At that point we gave up and did not ask to change rooms again.
Very good location, right next to the Noboribetsu Onsen Terminal. We took a bus ride from the Noboribetsu JR Station there. Public onsen is free for guests and there is also a private one to hire for 50 minute session (3300 yen).

United StatesRoom was small for 300$ a night. No meal included for this price at this type of hotel is not worth the price. The AC in the room did NOT work well at all.
Location was great - near Jigokudani. The hotel itself is well maintained, clean and somewhat modern. Onsen is fantastic.

The room with the private tub was absolutely gorgeous. The hotel was literally outside of the station.

PhilippinesA bit old but understandable since it is one of the pioneer hotels in Noboribetsu.
Shuttle bus thru Yuyu liner from sapporo is very convenient. The onsen was big, complete amenities. The tatami room is big for 3 people, clean & spacious. There is a toilet, sink and shower room. Location is unbeatable, walking distance to local bus station. A good hike to Jigokudani and Oyunuma foot bath. Breakfast is the best! Salmon roe buffet and Noboribetsu Milk were the highlights. Gift shop sell cute stuff and souvenirs. A good hotel for one to two nights if you like onsens. We loves Noboribetsu

SwitzerlandThere's not much to do in noboribetsu and a lot of the facilities (like the café and karaoke rooms) were closed in the hotel. There were also no massage chairs unfortunately.
Beautiful onsen! I used both the private tub in my room and the public onsen in the hotel and was amazed by both of it.

AustraliaMaybe it’s off peak by now but the massage spa isn’t open everyday and the karaoke rooms are shut. We wanted dining in the room at first but the reception was trying to tell us it’s very expensive and when we asked how much, she said they don’t have enough staff — so maybe book that ahead if you want to do that :)
The onsen on the left has an amazing outside section, with waterfalls etc. Just beautiful! They change sides for male/females daily so if you don’t see it, don’t worry, just wait till the next day. The breakfast is huge and has lots of things to try!

United StatesThe food. I know buffets can't cater to everyone, and this one tries really hard to have a variety of international dishes but none of them were fantastic. I'd recommend sticking to the Japanese sections of the buffet because everything else was disappointing. Also don't go during the last hour because everything is lukewarm/not hot enough.
Loved the resort and onsen. The outdoor bath was incredible and we loved the private bath in our room. The hotel is kept very clean, but the private bath in our room had quite a bit of mold everywhere. For such an upscale resort, I was surprised that part wasn't kept cleaner. Walkable to Noboribetsu's major sights--Jigoku Dani and the bear park. We wanted a classic Hokkaido onsen town experience, and Noboribetsu Grand Hotel and this cute little mountain town delivered!

Onsen was wonderful. Probably one of the best onsens (natural sulfur from the area). Staff were very pleasant and it was located a short walk from Jigokudani. The evening walk there was very beautiful. Breakfast & lunch had a large variety of choices.
