We spent one night at the lovely little hotel Garden Saint Martin within walking distance of the canal. Lots of bars, restaurants, boulangeries and boutiques. Many people sat with friends/family/alone and enjoying the atmosphere, food, wine, snacks. Looks lovely when lit up at night. Nice time spent just walking.

Loved seeing one of the sites from the film Amelie!
Loved seeing one of the sites from the film Amelie! There was a sweet vintage shop nearby, LouLou Les Ames Arts, where I found some scarves and vintage photos to use for art projects back home. On the other side of the canal was a crepe cafe, Lulu la Nantaise, and I found a street flea market a few blocks away. Lots to see in this area< i barely touched the tip of this arrondissement!

Has a restful atmosphere, recalls Amsterdam actually.
Has a restful atmosphere, recalls Amsterdam actually. It has the Alexandre Dumas market on quite a few days, and like all Paris's markets, that is agreeable to wander about in; while you can use it to come down from a hostel in 10eme to the Marais for style and later walk on to the Latin Qtr after lunch e g, from where y then can take a train to Versailles perhaps, wh is beautiful in all seasons.
