FAQs about hotels in Strasbourg

Crossroads of European Culture

Situated on the banks of the River Rhine, Strasbourg is the capital of the Alsace region of France. The medieval city centre, Grande Île, is a UNESCO World Heritage site and houses the glorious sandstone Strasbourg Cathedral and picturesque timber-framed buildings.

The Cathedral of Our Lady is the tallest medieval building in Europe and one of the finest examples of Gothic architecture. It features a remarkable façade, one of the largest astronomical clocks in the world, stunning stained glass windows, and a terrace with panoramic city views.

Enjoy a pleasant walk in the medieval streets of the old town, or visit the charming Petite-France district. Here are some of the range of Strasbourg restaurants serving Alsatian specialities like beef and pork stew with potatoes and carrots, accompanied by local beer and regional white wine.

At the crossroads of European culture, cosmopolitan Strasbourg is home to numerous international organisations including the European Parliament, as well as one of the oldest European universities.

Strasbourg International Airport is easily reached from other international airports, so book your hotel, apartment or bed and breakfast through Booking.com and experience an unforgettable stay.

Uncrowded, great history, read it!, and ambiance to match.

Uncrowded, great history, read it!, and ambiance to match. Look up the Dancing Plague of Strasbourg 1518! Bring a camera. Go slow and forget the uber-hyped tourist stops. This was a good resting vacation, not a tussel with crowds. Great mass transit...USE IT! Go to the walking bridges over the Rhine into Kehl, Tram F to Place d'Islande.

Visit the cathedral at 12 and see the astrological clock at 1230, what an experience. You will take loads of photos, it’s such a beautiful and interesting city. Food is amazing, loads to see and do. Good shopping. We took a train trip to Colmar for a day visit as well.

We had two full days in the city which was sufficient for what we wanted to see and do. City is flat, so very easy to walk. But also has an excellent tram service with central hub at Homme de Fer if you are staying outside of the city centre. La Petite France, the old town area and river is very touristy and only a small part of the central area of Strasbourg. Excellent restaurant in that area is La Corde à Ligne. The buildings around the Place de la Republique are impressive and worth a visit. Close by and also well worth seeing is the Tomi Ungerer Museum with many of his cartoons. Highlight of our trip was seeing the Astronomical Clock in the cathedral. There is a 30 minute video show (in French, English and German) which starts at midday (cost €4) and explains the history which is fascinating and then clock chimes at 12:30.

Strasbourg is a gem of a city and easily reached from Paris by TGV. Sadly, we were there over Easter, which meant that many of the museums were closed. We loved the horloge astronomique and the cathedral. The Museum of Modern Art was much loved by my artist nephew and I enjoyed a ride round the old city on the Little Train.

We had 2 nights in Strasbourg which was just right for us. We had the boat ride, which had a commentary in all different languages as did the 2 little trains that go around different parts of the city. Of course, don’t miss the Cathedral and its stain glass windows and very unusual clock. If you’re fit, climb up the tower for beautiful views. So much history, beautiful buildings and streets. We parked in Gutenberg underground carpark which was 4 minutes from the hotel. Pricey, but worth it.

The hotel is great and 10 minutes by foot from the city centre. The staff is great, speaks perfect English and the checkin went really quick. The rooms are very spacious, the beds are comfy, the shower is reeeeaally large and if your room is on the right side of the building it offers an amazing view over Strasbourg. Parking garages are also nearby and there is a lot of bars, restaurants etc in walking distance
