Starr were excellent and the room very clean and comfortable. It reminded me in some ways of the good quality and reliability of Premier Inns prior to Covid. Seemed to me a very good place to stay with children, judging by the happy faces I saw.

Wells is a beautiful city with the centre retaining much of its historical character. The cathedral and Bishops Palace are worth visiting as is strolling around the streets and lanes of the town centre. A little further afield are Cheddar Gorge and Glastonbury and the north Somerset coast all making for a great day out.

Wells and the surrounding area was very pretty and had a reasonable amount of visitor parking. The Cathedral, Bishop's Palace and gardens are a must see for visitors. If not planning to come back within a year you can buy a combined ticket for the day and keep the costs done. Up behind the cathedral is a museum and the best preserved medieval street that's just beautiful and interesting. They have just received some lotto funding to do preservation work and possibly open up a few houses for visitors to experience. This lovely news may also mean over the next 3 years at times work may be being carried out when visiting Wells has a large range of Tearooms/coffee shops along with pubs and restaurants (but we didn't try any restaurants or pubs so no recommendations) It's also worth the short trip to Glastonbury, with it's quirky high street shops and eateries, plus the Abbey and Tor if the outdoors and history is more your thing

Wells is a lovely little town with lots of independent shops. The Cathedral is a must to visit. There are some lovely restaurants. We ate at an Italian and also a Greek restaurant, both were excellent. The market on a Wednesday morning is very popular. It is very easy to get round the city.

Excellent service from the staff. Rooms were comfortable and well equipped. Great location to visit Wells. We celebrated my daughter's 18th, made all the more perfect, when they gave her a beautiful bouquet of flowers and glass of prosecco.on the day of her birthday. Thank you to the staff at Swan Hotel. We'd definitely stay there again.

The Ancient Gatehouse is in a great location and we were blown away by the superb Italian restaurant which is part of the hotel and the ability to enjoy the food and wine while looking straight across the cathedral green to Wells Cathedral. It was magical. All the staff were really friendly and engaging.

Location is second to none. The hotel is located just opposite the Wells cathedral. It is 5min walk from the town center where there is a range of places to eat or have coffee. If you don't mind a longer walk the Weatherspoon pub serves a good breakfast for a reasonable price.
