Varied menu to please everyone. Facility to make own breakfast drink - but I am partially sighted and asked for help - the blond waitress happily made our drinks and remembered for the following mornings - very very impressed with her pleasant and happy demeanour-

Rye is an historic town that needs exploring. Guide pamphlets are available. There are convenient restaurants and pubs to suit all tastes. Train and bus connections are good. Plenty of parking on non market days. There is a cinema. A short trip to Rye harbour allows exploration at the nature reserve with excellent information centre and cafe. Anyone with walking problems may find some of the cobbled streets challenging

If you want a really authentic Inn the Mermaid is the one for you. Clean rooms and comfy bed. The staff were very helpful and food amazing. The only thing if not good on your feet is the cobbled streets but that is what you expect for this type of setting. Other than that nothing can fault it. Will definitely be back again. Also there is a lovely little cake come sandwich shop tucked down a little side pathway called The Cobbler. If not watching your diet certainly worth a visit.

Rye is a gorgeous town and clean.
Rye is a gorgeous town and clean. One of Henry the VIII's Cinque ports, so lots of history. We visit regularly.
Lots of places to eat, recommend Hayden's, Apothecary coffee shop and Cobbles tearoom. There are several others we have not tried. Avoid Marino's fish and Simon the Pieman has gone downhill.
Shops- Antique, gifts, books, clothes, chemists, and a good Jempson's supermarket at nearby Peasmarsh.
Pleasant town indoor swimming pool. Walks including a short one by the Windmill.
Lambs in the fields.
Tudor houses, Ypres tower with views. Great play park for children at the bottom of the hill. Paid parking, more near the harbour.
Bird watching at the local nature reserve. Recommend staying at the Flackley Ash hotel nearby.
Avoid Hastings and St. Leonard's they are ghastly, in need of regeneration. Camber Sands is okay, as is St. Mary's bay, although loos are basic.

This is an amazing little B&B with fantastic hosts where nothing is to much trouble. The breakfast was first rate, absolutely fantastic. Great room, lovely facilities, spotlessly clean and the shower was hot and nice and big. I do not have anything but praise for the place and would highly recommend.

A walk around the town of Rye is a must to see all the old buildings and shops.
There are quite a number of restaurants in Rye to choose from. Some of the 'owners' or managers need a course in customer service....Called into one to check his menu and when we said we were just looking he was not so helpful after we said we are just looking for a place for tonight....
However, we stopped into a small cafe for lunch and had great potato soup, which was excellent on a cold day.
Location: Handy with a car -- about a mile into town. Parking free at the hotel, and not expensive at cattle market lot, near the train station in Rye, and free after 7 PM at most other lots.
Great-looking oast towers on the hotel, containing round stone rooms for reception & dining. Generous and tasty Full English Breakfast included. Room and bed were clean & comfortable, but with odd separate shower room.
Not far from Great Dixter -- a lovely and unique house, garden, and nursery.
Room had everything that you would expect and a bit of a view. Bathroom had a opening window. Breakfast was good with decent cooked and continental choices. Friendly staff.
Hotel quite convenient for Rye town - just a 5 minute walk over the river bridge. Availability of parking was a big plus. Not sure where you could park if staying in the centre of Rye as it is a very old town with narrow streets.
Great location in center of town. The hotel was rebuilt a few years ago following a fire and is very up to date with comfortable beds, modern bathrooms etc. We stayed in a junior suite that was very spacious. The staff were all extremely friendly and welcoming. It is very convenient having a restaurant on site and we enjoyed eating both breakfast and dinner there.
Excellently appointed room. We had the silver room with a really nice bathroom. Good view as well. Good selection for Tea coffee and free cookies in the room plus Complimentary tea n cake during the day.
Breakfast was gourmet level - served us scallops eggs Benedict!
Staff was very warm welcoming and super helpful.
Location was ideal to explore rye town.
Best check in receptionist I have ever experienced. She went the extra mile to explain how to find things in Rye, and went through tourist attractions and restaurant options. Great location for Rye, with free parking. Very easy walk to the historic heart of Rye from the hotel. Room well appointed. Servicing of the room very good.
Good location in the centre of Rye, with good access to plenty of restaurants and shops. The welcome pack left by the host was thoughtful and had the basics like milk, eggs and bread + a bottle of wine. Good WiFi and hot water supply.
Great location for exploring Camber Sands and Rye areas.
Brilliant location only a short walk from the town centre, and a very comfortable place to relax after a day of exploring. But most importantly, superb hosting skills from Sue who gave us all the local insight, and made us extremely excited to enjoy the beautiful town of Rye. Thank you Sue!
Warm, friendly, clean and comfortable.
Food- breakfast lovely varied menu. Bakery for sit in or take out option very good.
Food -Excellent.
Staff- Friendly, helpful and made the stay perfect for our Christmas break. Will be recommending the Whitehouse Hotel, Rye to friends and family.
The host, Javed was so accommodating & helpful suggesting things to see in Rye. His B&B is totally charming, beautifully designed & spotless! It was a wonderful stay! His breakfast menu was full of choices & the food delicious as well.
We really enjoyed the history of the building itself and the town of Rye in general. We made use
of the self-guided historical tour map of Rye that the hotel provided.
The breakfasts were wonderful and the staff friendly.
Our boutique room was spacious and well presented with good facilities including a coffee machine that was spot on.
The hotel is a lovely old converted building in the heart of Rye with a great Bistro downstairs.
Hotel is in a good location within the quaint historic town of Rye and a bonus having private parking nearby.
Excellent breakfast and honesty bar a nice touch.
Room clean, spacious and comfortable.
The staff could not be more attentive. The old bit of the hotel is fabulously creaky and genuine and the room sizes are beautiful. The location is great only 10 minutes to Rye
Great location in Rye, good food and great bar with really positive, friendly staff. The hotel has a 'homey' feel and our room was nicely decorated and well thought out.
