The Hope Anchor, hotel in Rye

This mid-18th century former inn offers unique rooms, free Wi-Fi, and excellent views of Rye.

Staff were good, particularly in the morning. Breakfast was very good - the choice of options was excellent, good quality ingredients (fruit salad made from fresh fruit) and able to cater for food allergies/intolerances. Nice coffee and as many refills as a hotel guest wants! The TV in the room had a good screen size and great picture quality, with more channel options than is usual in most hotels, in my experience. Plenty of space in the room between the beds and the TV. Lovely view out over the Strand towards Winchelsea. Would've liked a bath but the shower was more than adequate - powerful, height adjustable, plenty of hot water and a very spacious cubicle.

The Gallivant, hotel in Rye

The sand between your toes. Sky and beach as far as your eyes can see. Wonderful food made with love. Deeply comfortable beds in beautifully thought out bedrooms. Daily yoga and wellness classes.

Nice decor and vibe. Cosy for a winter break. Single story suited my elderly father.

There is plenty of nice pubs and restaurants to choose from, nice walks along the beach and through the old town, we stayed for 3 nights and there were still things of interest to view, which we will do on another visit next year.

A very interesting town, one of the Cinque Ports, with fascinating architecture and history. Lots of boutique-type shops and an interesting fishing harbour to explore and photograph. We stayed at The George, one of the more upmarket hotels, but there are many pubs, b&bs and probably the inevitable airbnbs well served with restaurants and cafes in the town. Lots to do and fish fresh off the boats to buy and take home...

Great walk around the nature reserve.

Great walk around the nature reserve. Rye itself architecturally stunning, cinema good for a rainy day or courtyard cafe if sunny. Apothecary Cafe like something out of a Dicken’s novel. Waterworks Bar quirky and friendly with own brewed beer named to reflect former use of building (Golden Flush, I Pee a Lot!) and table sharing. Merchants Mill Cloth Shop definitely worth a visit if haberdashery is your thing.

Although I knew of rye the town came as pleasant surprise because of its age and history. From the old town the sites were readily in reach by walking as were numerous restaurants where we ate. Rye harbour and Nature Reserve provided an interesting area for walking & bird observation.

Rye is a wonderful place to visit from the cobbled streets and historical buildings to the varied restaurants and bars (the Grapevine was a particular favourite). High quality of independent shops with not a fast food restaurant in site! Would highly recommend a long weekend in Rye. We also visited Dungeness about 30 minutes drive away at sunset and took so many photos of this eerie yet amazing place.

Rye has an interesting history and the museum, tower and Lamb house are worth visiting to understand it. Just walking around is a pleasure, a variety of food, shopping, antiques centre and pub choices. Fantastic sit-in fish and chips on Mint Street. It is central to many other areas of interest so an excellent base for the beaches. marshes, harbour, Tenterden, wineries etc.

Great location with a decent car park. Great staff and a good cooked breakfast. The town of Rye is a few minutes on other side of river with all its pubs and eating places. Hotel is actually on the riverside with a nice little beer garden.
