The location is good, though be aware it's up the hill a bit. Lots of restaurants around. The place was comfortable and despite all the other reviews, not too humid. Maybe that's a seasonal thing. Breakfast was fine, simple choice though a little on the oily side. The price is very low and so can't complain much, it really did the job of a budget stay in Cat Ba

The owner is really great and helpful, we came at the homestay very early but we could check in right away! Also it is possible to rent a motorbike. The rooms are very clean and the pool is nice. Really recommend this place!!

Comfortable bed in our room, better than the rest of Vietnam! Take a room in the back, it's much more quiet. 1 dog barking once in a while during the day, but quiet during the night. Great breakfast, hot water, perfect, I would come back and recommend!

I resisted going to Cat Ba for many years for various reasons and now I regret it. The island is very beautiful, easy to get around and seems to have less rubbish than Phu Quoc (not to mention it is considerably cheaper). There are many tourist facilities and the service is great. I would definitely come back to Cat Ba.

Beautiful island! Would recommend 3 full days here. We had one day renting a scooter and going to the national park (1h30 hike) and 2 caves near the National Park. Then we went on the night boat trip with kayaking & swimming to see the bioluminescence plankton. Then the next day we went on the Lan Ha Bay & Halong Bay boat trip with kayaking. Both trips were booked with Cat Ba Local who we'd highly recommend! Then the third day we walked around town to see the markets and went to the 3 beaches. Then hired a tandem bike in town in the evening! Lovely island so allow time to relax and enjoy it. It was very easy to get around and book any trips the day before via tour agencies or hotels.

It is convenient to travel to Cat Ba from Hanoi city, only 3 hours travelling. You can enjoy both sea and forest at the same trip in Cat Ba island. Food is the most I like in Cat Ba, especially sea food and ice cream.

There is no beach in the bay. You have to travel further afield. It would be good to know when your chosen hotel/accommodation is on a steep hill.
Cat Ba has a great little market, a few good restaurants, good foot massage and friendly folks

Cat Ba is a nice spot to just chill. There is good accommodation around and lots of eating place to choose from. You can also spend 8 hours cruising on the bay if you wish with lunch included. The cruise was very enjoyable. Oasis restaurant on the main street is a great place to eat, drink or have a cup of coffee. The food is great there. They have a pool table there and it's free to play. If you want to go to the beach, it's near the Flamingo Resort which is a 20 minutes walk to the left of the main road if you're facing the bay.

We stayed in a Homestay 10Km outside Cat Ba and just went in to the town for some shopping and for the boat trip. Would recommend staying here rather than Halong Bay--much less crowded and opportunities for other activities eg trekking.
This is such a lovely hotel in the centre of Cat Ba town. The hotel offer a range of trips and will help you book you departure bus from the island too. Our room was beautiful and clean with a amazing view of the sea! For the price this hotel is a no brainier as the service you receive is above and beyond. We would particularly like to thank Teddy who looked after us during our 3 night stay. When we return to Cat Ba in the future we will definitely be staying here!
Private and secluded beach away from everything. Great place to get away and relax. You can see Cat Ba city across the water.
The food is very good at the resort and the staff is very helpful with any questions about tours and pretty much anything you need help with and their English is very good!
Jack, Shin, Elvis, and Bean were super friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. They made getting to and from the island seamless.
I will miss those guys for sure!
The hotel is located in the central island which is convenient for restaurants, tour companies and shops. The sea view room has great view of the harbor which is the same as in the picture. The room was quiet clean and comfortable. The hot shower was strong even the room was on the high floor. Breakfast was good considered inexpensive room rate. The owner was kind to make sure I had breakfast because of my check out time was before 7am.

- the tour they offer was very good, but if you want to book it you have to do it the night before
- the hotel also have a cave which is very interesting, and a restaurant in the otherside of the island. The food there was delicious if you want to eat hotpot and grill

We loved this hotel so much we actually extended our stay. The room was spotless, the beds were comfortable, the view of the sunset from the balcony was amazing. The hotel is right by plenty of restaurants, bars, and shops. The staff were welcoming and friendly, and they could not have done more to ensure we had a great stay on Cat Ba island. Julie, in particular, was great throughout.

A cozy, comfortable, spacious rooms, and a very well-located boutique family-run hotel in the heart of Cat Ba island, a short walk away from the center. We loved our stay here and the owners of the property were very friendly and helpful all along. Plus this came on a budget so couldn't complain about anything. It’s immediately apparent with how much dedication and love the JoyStay bungalows were built. As long as you’re not looking for a standard hotel, JoyStay is your place to go. A little bit like glamping, the bungalows are rustic, yet incredible cozy. The bed is comfy and the bathroom functional. The host is super kind, always there to help and breakfast was really nice.
It is the best accomodation you can find here. Just immagine, you are on the island which is uninhabited. There is a cozy beach on the other side of the island and the trek there is very pleasant. The hotel gives you a possibility to use kayaks and sups for free. The restaurant is very good and even better, no need to go to Cat Ba. Jack is so helpful!

Wonderful hotel in a great location in cat ba town. Wonderful facility with large room and a nice balcony overlooking the water. The staff were amazing. The host helped us with the tour we wanted to do The restaurant was tremendous. The seafood hot pot and seafood pad Thai were amazing. Close to one beach
The location of this hotel is stunning. Its at the end of the road on the island so uninterrupted views from our room of the beach!
