Beautiful countryside with amazing mountain views and rice fields. So much to see and do. Just get on a bike and explore! We visited Trang An, Hoa Lu and Tam Coc Cave in two days. Wish we would have had time to see more.

Ninh binh as a city is nothing much.
Ninh binh as a city is nothing much. About 6-8km to the west are beautiful limestone karsts covered with vegetation with rivers running around and through them. Boat trips can be taken from tam coc or trang an. Trang an is prettier and less busy. The trips at both places take you to temples and pagodas, through caves. Trips last about 2-3hours. There are many others things to do such as trek in national parks, bird sanctuary, visit the largest temple Bai Dinh (go at 3, quieter and cooler and watch sunset from pagoda then walk down the hill with everything lit up). The most enjoyable thing to do is just be in amongst the karsts. Ride bikes or walk. It is hot and humid. More so than Halong bay. Avoid the heat of the day so take a long lunch break. I still personally prefer ninh binh limestone karst area. You have more control and variety of what you do. As my husband pointed out when we arrived at Halong bay it’s very similar. There is less pollution in trang an and it is greener.

The best place of our trip in Vietnam. The place has a very different vibe than the other cities. The main area of stay is Tam Coc which has a plenty of options of food, boat rides etc. It's a perfect place for bicycle riding, rental bikes etc.
when we arrived we could already feel the warmth and the calm aura that the host spread. he even sat down with us to plan our trip in ninh binh. it was possible to rent a motorcycle or bikes. we even got treated with a traditional vietnamese dish for the last breakfast and by the end of our staying the host drove us by himself to our next transfer because of the bad weather. all in all together, the location was near of the main tourist street of Tam Coc, the staying was very clean and for the perfect price. thank you for your kindness!
Mama was so welcoming, one of the loveliest people you’ll meet! We arrived in the morning before check in and she helped us plan our day to get the most out of our time in Ninh Binh. She booked us a motorbike tour and the drivers turned up within 10 minutes of booking! The tour was incredible, as were our drivers, they were very friendly and helpful! Breakfast in the morning was also delicious, some of the best scrambled eggs we’ve had! Would definitely recommend Tam Coc Family Hotel to those visiting Tam Coc and the surrounding area!
Best value for money you will find. Room was a bit like a boutique hotel and seemed quite new or recently renovated - good view, clean with fridge, kettle and comfortable lighting. Bathroom is spacious and so much better than typical Vietnamese bathroom. Breakfast was great and big portion. The host doesn't speak much English, but is very cheerful and welcoming. I left something behind and she made sure to message me. I personally found Tam Coc a bit too touristy, but this is the best location if you want to stay in this village.
Tam Coc Tropical Homestay is home to the best host I’ve met so far. Owner The is an amazing host. He goes the extra mile to give you what you need, and would always greet you with a smile on his face. He is very approachable and friendly. He also arranges some things for you to make your Ninh Binh experience a little more comfortable and convenient (e.g., bike rental, tour, etc.). His family is also very nice.

It is a wonderful hotel owned by a lovely local family who are very friendly and accomodating. It's a nice location in Tam Coc, cycling distance from most nearby attractions. The rooms are nice and well maintained, with homemade breakfast every morning. It's one of the few hotels that has bathtubs in the area and the hot water worked really well, one of the best I've had in VN! We had one of our best trips in Vietnam thanks to this caring family. First time visiting Ninh Binh and decided to stay at Tam Coc area. Conveniently location as well as near a lot of famous places. Everyone on the staff was super helpful and friendly during our time here. On arrival, they gave us an overview of the area and how to get to the locations via bike, motorbike, or taxi. 5 minute walk to Tam Coc, lots of food and coffee options down the street too. Really loved our time here and left wishing we could stay longer.
Everything! The location is fantastic, steps from all the restaurants and Tam Coc lake, the rooms are big and spotlessly clean, the breakfast was great - so much food! But most of all, the couple who own and manage the hotel are absolutely fantastic! Friendly and super helpful. They helped us rent bicycles and motorcycles, booked our tickets to Hoi An and provided restaurant recommendations based on what we wanted to eat. Highly recommend this place!
Clean room in the center of Tam Coc, nearby the central street with restaurants and a boat stop. The host at the reception was nice and helpful, there were scooters available to rent from the hotel. Breakfast is a small buffet breakfast dominated by Vietnamese choices (rice and noodles), but there was yoghurt available, juices, and some fruits. Overall, host did his job very well and was nice to us, but accomosation itself is not as nice as in pics.
Everything is just perfect. The location is suitable to explore Ninh Binh and surrounding. It takes just 12 Minutes to Tam coc and Trang an. The room is big with a good bathroom, view, AC and strong wifi. The owner (cherry) makes everything to make our stay comfortable. Motorbike can be rented direct here. Cherry organized the transport to Sapa. Cherry and her family are very kind, helpful and polite. Highly recommended.
Beautiful property set within the Vietnamese countryside but just a few minutes drive from Tam Coc Main Street. The rooms are comfortable with modern bathrooms. Amy was fantastic and communicated on WhatsApp before - ordered me cards to and from Hanoi and organised a tour of all the sites in Ninh Binh. All the staff were lovely and nothing was too much trouble. I intend to come back during the summer and use the pool!
The hotel has a great location, in the central of Tam Coc, just 1 minute walk from the Tam Coc Whaft, close to other tourist attractions, especially the restaurant at the hotel cooks very well, the price is reasonable. Motorbike and bicycle rental at a good price, the staff is very helpful and friendly, the ticket office is right in the lobby, it's easy for us to book the sleeper bus to Hue, everything is perfect!
The staff were extremely kind and very helpful with arranging tours. Everything was made easy and moved around our tight schedule, which we really appreciated. The free breakfasts were fantastic and the laundry service was very helpful. The setting is exquisite and the room itself was probably the nicest we had during our time in Vietnam.
We would love to go back to Tam Coc/Ninh Binh and stay there again!
The hotel is amazing. So much space, quiet, but still next to the village and point where you can take the boat on the tam coc river.
Also the staff is really nice and offer great things. Even after checking out they offer you to leave your luggage and take a shower before you want to go the next destination.
The bus stop is also next door. Busses leave in the mornings, afternoons and evenings.
Our best hotel in Vietnam so far ! The room was perfect and quiet thanks to the double layer of window.The hotel is situated at 5min by walk to a lot of restaurants and even less to the lake. But the real plus was the staff ! They speak a very good english and are always very helpful to book anything or give some advice about the great things to see in Tam Coc.
In every hotel we look under the sheet at the mattress to check. This is the cleanest hotel we've been to since coming to Vietnam.
It's in the centre of Tam Coc but down a little road so it's quiet.
The shower had excellent water pressure and was able to get very hot.

Breakfast was decent with a range of western and Vietnamese options. Rooms are clean and new as the hotel is newly opened. Staff explained the various attractions near tam coc and helped us with the bike rental. They allowed us to hang around the hotel premises even after checking out as we were waiting for our overnight bus

The cleanest room we've had in Vietnam and the bathroom has luxury standard. Beds are comfortable and the breakfast was delicious. Also hosts are so nice and will really make sure your stay here is great<3 Perfect for a short visit in Tam Coc.
The place is new, nice, comfy, good wifi, good AC... No complaints. Just be aware it is a short bike ride away from ninh Binh and Tam Coc, but with a scooter, it was lovely. And the family that runs it are a delight.
