The Swan, hotel in Thornbury

Boasting a garden, The Swan is set in Thornbury and also provides a shared lounge and a bar. The property is situated an 8-minute walk from Thornbury Castle. Every room has a patio with city views.

Comfortable warm room, with coffee/tea making facilities. Nice view across the high street. Welcoming landlady and homely atmosphere. Assorted breakfast, perhaps continental addition for those of us watching our waistline. Conveniently situated near car parks and some interesting shops. There are some great restaurants for all tastes, Thai Basil is my favourite

Lodge at Bristol, hotel in Thornbury

Located close to the M4, M5 and Cribbs Causeway, Lodge at Bristol features 36 contemporary double bedrooms with high-spec en-suite facilities.

There is a reason this place is always booked up. Yes its ideal location for work (hence all business travelers) but its just so practical, clean and easy. I have been coming for years and its my Fave place to stay, I just cant afford their busy/peak Tuesday rates. Staff are fantastic and the Manager is one of the nicest most helpful people. comfy beds, great showers, nice breakfasts, decent coffee and come/go as you please.

The hotel is set in Thornbury Castle, which has been refurbished to a very high quality whilst still maintaining the authenticity and feel of a building first constructed in 1511. The food served at both dinner and breakfast was of a very high quality and tasted fantastic! Every member of staff that we met were extremely helpful and knowledgeable and the customer care they provided really made our stay very special.

Thornbury is really well placed as a destination: easy to go over the bridge to Wales, or alternatively easy to get to Bristol. We ate in an Italian on the first night and this was fine, and an Indian on the second night and that was good as well.

One of the most beautiful and historic places you can stay not just in the UK but the world . I have stayed in summertime when the gardens are blooming and in winter when the castle takes on its own ambience. The staff are amazing and helpful , and the village of Thornbury is only a few minutes walk away . Every time I am in the South West this is my go to place . Could not recommend enough.

If you want to treat yourself and be treated like a king/queen, stay here. The castle and grounds are magical, historical, beautiful, lavish, and extremely classy. The room we stayed in was huge yet charming and seriously classy. The personnel are amazing, just SO nice and friendly, not the least bit stuffy. Can't go wrong with a stay here, loved it!!!!

I was actually in Oldbury on Severn which is lovely English village. It has a community shop which was open in the Sunday and where I bought some lovely local eggs and cards by a local artist. Lots of other local goodies were available. They also offer beverages and cakes.

A lovely old English market town with plenty of character.

A lovely old English market town with plenty of character. Plenty of good pubs crammed into a small area so pub crawl is easy! Lots of standard amenities and some local family run shops with a few of the inevitable chains. Plenty of areas to walk and very dog friendly. A good location as a base to explore further afield.

I loved absolutely EVERYTHING about Thornbury Castle! What I was most impressed with was the attention to detail that was evident in everything- from exterior to interior presentation and decor, to the extremely welcoming and pleasant staff, to the food, the service, etc. Nothing was left unattended to and no detail was too small!! I had the pleasure of speaking with several staff members during my stay and all of them LOVE the castle and its history and are enthusiastic to share it with you. Best overall travel experience I've ever had!

Location was out of the way, which was fine for me, I was travelling on business, so to have a quiet place to stay was just what I needed, I could see that there were local walks directly to the accommodation, unfortunately, I always have work to do, so I missed out on the walks. The room also had a fridge that was stocked with water, milk, butter etc, and for free use, what more could you ask for. The Hotel is a little gem f your looking for piece and quiet in an attractive location.

The staff were very friendly! I felt welcome from the moment I walked in. Check-in was quick and easy. The room itself was nicer than the photos. The rooms aren't directly above the pub which is nice. The pub is located in a quiet village but only about 30min by car to both Bristol and Gloucester. Breakfast is in the room with some goodies in the mini fridge. There is a kettle and toaster in the room. Overall a lovely stay!

A stunning, luxurious and beautiful hotel. Quality and stylish interiors to a Tudor style - bright coloured tapestries and carpets, delicate ceiling and wall murals. Exposed stone walls and fireplace with deep window sills. Contemporary bathrooms with all mod cons. Clearly no expense spared in the latest renovations.

The bedroom and bathroom facilities were of the highest standard as good as some 5 star hotels we have stayed in. It didn't matter that a cooked breakfast was not available as all the items that were provided were excellent and certainly sufficient. Quiet, warm room with excellent dinner menu. We will return.
