Explorers Cottage, Yorkshire Wolds Character Home, hotel in Market Weighton

Offering garden views, Explorers Cottage, Yorkshire Wolds Character Home is an accommodation situated in Market Weighton, 32 km from York Railway station and 29 km from Hull New Theatre.

My wife and I stayed here for one night while walking The Yorkshire Wolds Way. The communication with Carol, the host, before we arrived was excellent and the cottage was very comfortable. Carol had thought of everything, leaving us some basic provisions of bread, milk, butter, jam, marmalade, coffee, tea etc. as well as a few ‘treats’ such as chocolate biscuit bars, Yorkshire tea loaf and bags of crisps. Other items were provided such as a basket of ‘emergency’ items in the bathroom in case one forgets anything. To stock up on other food etc. there is a handy Tesco superstore just across the road. Overall I would definitely recommend a stay here. I would also recommend The Bay Horse Inn just 5-10mins walk away in the centre of town for a really superb evening meal.

Apt D in Old Grade 2 Converted Farmhouse, hotel in Market Weighton

Situated in Market Weighton and only 32 km from York Minster, Apt D in Old Grade 2 Converted Farmhouse features accommodation with city views, free WiFi and free private parking.

We came to Market Weighton for a friend's wedding nearby. The location was great with a big Tesco just across the road. Beds were comfy and really nice shower although my friends said it was a weird design as it was an open shower. We had a lovely stay and the host was responsive. However, I'd recommend booking taxis well in advance if you need to go somewhere as there aren't many taxis around and no Uber available.

Historical, all shops you would require.

Historical, all shops you would require. Huge Tesco, lots of quirky shops. Granville’s which is just like the one in the tv series. Hair dressers, barbers. Cafes and restaurants. Takeaways, bakeries. Hotels. Charity shops. Excellent street markets. Beautifully decorated street for Christmas. Statue of Giant Bradley with all plaques telling of his history. Very good bus service to York, Beverley and all the local towns. Not too far from Thd Wolds for walking. Lovely friendly town. Love staying there. We had breakfast at The Cafe on The Wold, staff were very welcoming snd even brought across a mason jar of dog treats. We also ate at Saints and Sinners which also provide fresh cooked food which was amazing, lovely cakes too. Amazing staff nothing is too much trouble. I think everyone who live and work in Market Weighton are just wonderful and make your stay fantastic.

History of the town is very interesting.

History of the town is very interesting. Winston Churchill stayed at the Londesborough. Giant Bradley recently featured in Barnum The Greatest Showman. He was 7ft 9 inches and also knew Gentleman Jack and were friends. You can see Giant Bradley’s house behind his statue. Granville’s store just like the one that featured on tv with the late Ronnie Corbett is also a must to visit. They even wear the old style outfits from the 1950s. You can almost by anything in there. Jacks Emporium is also an amazing shop with so many different types of curios you can purchase at brilliant prices. Lots of places to eat with many diverse options, eat in out or deliver. Many allow dogs in and Cafe on the Wold even brings a jar of dog treats to your table which they can snack on whilst you eat your food. Truly wonderful town.

The thing I like the most about Market Weighton is the friendliness of the people there, in the shops, on the street, always a cheery and polite welcome. The town itself is a pleasant place to walk around with some interesting and easily accessible little shops.
