The Players Golf Club, hotel in Chipping Sodbury

Set in Bristol, 20 km from Royal Crescent, The Players Golf Club offers accommodation with a shared lounge, free private parking, a terrace and a bar.

It's all about the location, there's not much else to like. Breakfast was decent, but having paid £130 for what felt like a glorified shed, I wasn't expecting to pay for it.

Cross Hands Hotel by Greene King Inns, hotel in Chipping Sodbury

Just minutes from junction 18 of the M4, Cross Hands Hotel is a charming 14th-century posting house with a pub and restaurant, in the heart of the Gloucester countryside.

Chipping Sodbury is a small town with a High Street with an array of small shops. It is steeped in history and is a pleasant place to wander round, enjoy the cafes/pubs and other eateries. There is a Waitrose supermarket. There are walks all around through green fields and rolling hills.

Good pub food ,very good considerate staff ,and landlord ,our room was a large room, overlooking the high street its a very old coaching inn lots of character creaky floor boards low door frames ect what’s not to like, good location to wander out from , needs a bit of updating but for a 300 year old coaching inn that’s always going to be the case very good selection of pubs restaurants shops ,chipping Sodbury is a delightfull small market town we will revisit

If you want Sunday mid day meal book in advance as this is a very popular place to eat as the chef is good. Do have the breakfast - it's the best breakfast around for miles ! Staff are all very well trained and obliging and have been here a while - which is a good recommendation as they know their job well & are all good at it. The area is good for walking and also near some national trust properties & Bath & Bristol city centre are all within easy driving distance. The cotswolds are on the doorstep. Chipping Sodbury has some very good shops - the bakers with the butchers next door should be visited. In December they have a Mop Fair - worth seeing & the Main Street through Chipping Sodbury is closed, while people sell things on stalls and dress up in old costumes- all this is within a 5 minute walk or less if you walk fast, of The Bell !

The location of this pub/ hotel was perfect as we were attending a wedding nearby. It was easy to find and the check-in process was very straightforward. Parking is plentiful and spacious. From the beginning, all the staff we encountered were very friendly and polite. Our room was at the front of the building but we had no noise disturbance from the road. The bed was large and very comfy with nice pillows. The bathroom was also a decent size with a nice shower. Breakfast was very tasty with good-seized portions and nice tea & coffee.

I absolutely loved the house and location. The hosts were extremely caring and respectful of me as a guest. They took very good care of me and made me a lovely full english breakfast. The room was clean and bed was very comfortable. I spent several hours just looking out the window at the farmland and open spaces. There was plenty of free parking on their property, secured by a gate. It is a family home in a quiet and calm rural area. I would definitely stay there again.

Opted for this accommodation as opposed to a budget hotel room for a stopover to break our journey. We'll worth the few pounds extra, much more luxurious accommodation. So glad we stayed here. Excellent accommodation, nice "breakfast option" included (fruit, croissant, tea coffee ). Very welcoming host. Would not hesitate to recommend. And, an added bonus, a pub with great food nearby (The Bell Inn)

We stayed here with family for our wedding in chipping sodbury and it was fabulous. A grand and beautiful property with everything we needed and more including a four poster bed, a luxurious bath in the room, and drinks in the fridge! Check in was easy and clear and the hosts were so welcoming and thoughtful. Definitely recommended.

The location was ideal for a peaceful stay near open countryside, but close to amenities of Yate and Chipping Sodbury. The house is very spacious and well equipped, including washing machine and freezer to ideal for a longer stay. I would definitely stay again when visiting family in the area.
