Known for its sandy beaches and good nightlife, Bournemouth is a popular seaside resort on the Dorset coast between Poole and Christchurch.
The town is centred on the Bourne River, running downhill towards the sea by Bournemouth Pier. This pier looks back towards a promenade lined with beach huts at the foot of grassy cliffs. The promenade continues west to Poole, while a road goes east to neighbouring Boscombe, where anglers often fish from its pier. Overlooking it is a clifftop road housing some Bournemouth hotels with sea views.
Booking.com also offers hotels near the BIC – Bournemouth International Centre in the West Cliff area. This convention centre and music venue is a short walk from the Art Deco Pavilion Theatre, located next to the Lower Gardens. In this popular city park is the Bournemouth Eye, a tethered hot air balloon that offers far-reaching views.
At the park’s top end the river disappears under a large square, then emerges in the Central Gardens. Overlooking these gardens is the Victorian town hall, which used to be one of several spa hotels in Bournemouth. Opposite is a Grade I-listed church, and St Peter’s Church has the grave of Mary Shelley, author of ‘Frankenstein’.
On the outskirts of town, near 4 golf courses and the Castlepoint Shopping Centre, is Bournemouth Airport.

The beach was lovely as was the weather.. the prices were quite high for food and drink.. it is quite hilly to walk about.. lots of foreign speaking people about and lots of students we came across the local drunkards who were surprisingly pleasant they seemed to congregate in the same place each night we were out l.. the park is lovely to walk around we went on the hop off and on bus and visited Poole which was lovely.. we clocked up a lot of steps and enjoyed the weather overall a nice break..

Bournemouth is a lovely town, with an excellent bus service, coffee shops and cafes
We enjoyed the walk through the “winter gardens” and number of times
It was nice to see that the beach has been awarded the best in the U.K. again
It’s well deserved.
I would choose Bournemouth as a seaside visit
over any other, in the U.K.
The weather, full sunshine and 21-22 deg was the cherry on the cake.

Highly recommend Russell Cotes museum & St. Peter's church.
Highly recommend Russell Cotes museum & St. Peter's church.
Beach looked clean and welcoming. Lower gardens lovely, well kept.
On the downside, not much shops in the center of town, very bleak...from what I could find!
Be warned the seats in the theatre pavilion are quite tiny for tall people. Your knees will press against the seat in front and there's no space to sit sidewards. The show I saw was excellent, on a positive note.
Also, I am very concerned about the "bird house" in the lower gardens, near Westover Road. I understand it's a rescue bird charity, but should the birds be living in such cramped, unhygienic and unappealing environment. I was very disturbed by what I saw....

I found Bournemouth Beach just okay.
I found Bournemouth Beach just okay. Even though it wasn’t peak season or summer, it was surprisingly full of teenagers and quite busy. What disappointed me the most was the amount of rubbish left behind at the end of the day — bottles, disposable barbecues, plastics, cans... the main beach near the pier sadly turned into an open-air bin. It's really upsetting to see how little care some people show for the environment. Beaches are meant to be enjoyed, but also respected.

I love everything about Bournemouth except one thing I think the council are not looking after the streets. Everywhere you tread seems messy and covered with cigarette ends I was constantly looking g at what I was treading in It’s such a shame as I have been going to Bournemouth for many years but you can definitely see the decline in the town and on the streets

The coast and beaches are the attraction.
The coast and beaches are the attraction. The town centre isn't as attractive as it was in its heyday with homeless types etc. It isn't the easiest place to navigate either on foot or in a car in my view. You need a day or two to find your way around but it's good value outside the very busy periods.

Very clean and very modern decorating and furniture. The bedroom was very clean, with high-quality mattresses and warm. The pool was open till 9pm but a little cold. We had a problem with the room booking, but the front of house and housekeeping sorted in within 10 minutes. The breakfast was self-service and very tasty. We visit Bournemouth regularly and this is by far the best hotel we have stayed in, it was worth spending the extra money.
I have stayed here numerous times and must say I don’t stay anywhere else when I come to Bournemouth!
It’s within walking distance to the beach, the hotel restaurant is amazing! The chefs need a prize, not to mention- the bar tender makes the best mocktails!
The reception staff are so friendly and the gym and spa facilities are great.
A great location to unwind and enjoy, I truly love this hotel and will be sure to be back!
Cheap last minute hotel that we booked as we're seeing a concert at the 02, so was just somewhere to crash for the night. Short walk to the 02 and about 20 min walk into Bournemouth centre. The one staff member that spoke to us only on check in came across friendly and helpful, otherwise no other staff bothered to make us feel welcome.
Beautiful and stylish boutique hotel in a quiet area of Bournemouth . Friendly & helpful staff and a good location for exploring with a bus stop at the end of the road & short walking distance to the beach
