Royal Bath Hotel & Spa Bournemouth, hotel in Bournemouth

Opened on Queen Victoria's coronation day in June 1838, the Royal Bath Hotel & Spa Bournemouth was the first hotel in Bournemouth.

Location is brilliant I have stayed here many many times over the years. They have also redecorated so it isn’t as shabby, it’s still very old school but it feels like home now.

Very Friendly and helpful staff. Thanks Holly and team. Sharon in the dining room was very attentive and helpful in organising a tray to our room when my wife couldn't get down for breakfast. My wife also enjoyed a massage spa treatment whilst at the hotel.

The Riviera Hotel & Apartments - Alum Chine, hotel in Bournemouth

The Riviera Hotel has a peaceful location, looking out over the trees of Alum Chine to the bay. With free Wi-Fi and free parking, leisure facilities include a hot tub and indoor pool.

Mike in reception was incredibly helpful. He was friendly and always willing to answer questions. He even moved me to a balcony room so as to reduce the amount of noise coming from the Christmas parties… very thoughtful but totally appropriated. The location was also ideal.

FAQs about hotels in Bournemouth

Sea Air and Savoir-Faire

Known for its sandy beaches and good nightlife, Bournemouth is a popular seaside resort on the Dorset coast between Poole and Christchurch.

The town is centred on the Bourne River, running downhill towards the sea by Bournemouth Pier. This pier looks back towards a promenade lined with beach huts at the foot of grassy cliffs. The promenade continues west to Poole, while a road goes east to neighbouring Boscombe, where anglers often fish from its pier. Overlooking it is a clifftop road housing some Bournemouth hotels with sea views.

Booking.com also offers hotels near the BIC – Bournemouth International Centre in the West Cliff area. This convention centre and music venue is a short walk from the Art Deco Pavilion Theatre, located next to the Lower Gardens. In this popular city park is the Bournemouth Eye, a tethered hot air balloon that offers far-reaching views.

At the park’s top end the river disappears under a large square, then emerges in the Central Gardens. Overlooking these gardens is the Victorian town hall, which used to be one of several spa hotels in Bournemouth. Opposite is a Grade I-listed church, and St Peter’s Church has the grave of Mary Shelley, author of ‘Frankenstein’.

On the outskirts of town, near 4 golf courses and the Castlepoint Shopping Centre, is Bournemouth Airport.

Bournemouth has much to commend it; but as with any seaside resort, has much more to offer during the summer. Nonetheless the Christmas lights are very pretty, with ice skating and other attractions. Seek and enjoy!

Stayed for one night at alum chine and walked into Bournemouth via the beach. Very enjoyable. The pier and choice of leisure activities and eatery’s is very good. Bournemouth sadly has many problems with homeless people and crime. We were aware of the presence of others who displayed antisocial behaviour and felt bad for Greggs who have key code toilets with uv lighting to prevent use for drugs. Not many shops in Bournemouth city centre Poole has much bigger choice.

Ged and Jane were very welcoming. They put Easter chocolate eggs on the bed for us, which was a really nice touch. -The room was exactly like the pictures! It was the cleanest room I've been in a bed& breakfast/hotel in the UK. The room was on the top floor, so it can be quite warm in the from time to time, but there is an air-conditioning unit! -Breakfast was lovely! -Locationwise, it's 5min walk from the Bournemouth train station. It takes something like 20-30min to walk to the city centre.

It's not luxury but it's cheap, comfortable and perfectly OK. Don't know why everyone else complains about it. It is what it is. Go expecting the Ritz you'll be disappointed. If you want a hotel in the centre of Bournemouth right on the beach at a great price then this will suffice.
