Rose & Crown, hotel in Blanchland

Set in Slaley, 32 km from Beamish Museum, Rose & Crown offers accommodation with a garden, free private parking, a restaurant and a bar.

We had an issue in the room but once we brought it to the attention of the manager, she apologised immediately and it was then dealt with professionally and in a friendly manner. The room was slightly bigger than expected.. The breakfast was continental and served on a good sized landing area with a plenty of choice.

The staff were efficient, friendly, and helpful. The food was absolutely delicious. Great sized room and bathroom. Could have done with a second chair and larger space for hospitality tray, kettle, etc.

Not much in Blanchland , but what is there is lovely.

Not much in Blanchland , but what is there is lovely. The White Monk Tea Room is great worth trying there pie's and cakes they were fantastic. The Lord Crewe Arms was a great pub and had some great guest ales, restaurant was busy so would recommend booking ahead to avoid disappointment. The area is lovely with a 5km walk starting within the village, and loops around but gives some great views. Great base for travelling to nearby sites such as Hexham, Durham and some sights of Hadrian's Wall. Locals were lovely.

very pretty old village with a couple of shops but ideally located for visiting surrounding area. Quaint windy country lanes with glorious views over Derwent Reservoir. All countryside in area very pretty and wonderful views. Many places of all kinds to visit and a vast numer of walks both long and short.

This Hotel was "re-furbished" about 5 years ago.

This Hotel was "re-furbished" about 5 years ago. The rooms are well appointed with very fluffy towels and great bedlinen. Bed was a bit too big for the room and there was no where to put my bag ... they were dog friendly - with a bed, bowel, towel and treat provided for our pet but they charged an additional £20 for this service which was not advertised on your site... other hotels that we stayed at were also dog friendly and did not charge an extra fee. The building is historical and setting is beautiful but I prefer how I remember it 20 years ago. Menu was restricted.

Blanchard is a lovely village on the border between Durham and Northumberland, and close to moors and dales. There are plenty of places to visit and things to do. There is a village shop, a church and a hotel. What more would you need?
