Great base for walking in the surrounding hills and forests.
Great base for walking in the surrounding hills and forests. Town has beautiful parks along the river and lots of historic buildings. The two Thermal Spas are superb and completely different- one modern, one very old fashioned but so relaxing.
Local bus services are very good if a little expensive (€3.30) for short journeys.
Its quite an expensive destination for eating out but good self catering accommodation options available and Netto supermarket prices were OK

I visit Baden-Baden at least twice a year.
I visit Baden-Baden at least twice a year. It has an elegant feel with fine architecture and nice places to eat. I visit the Caracalla Spa each time and spend 6 hours a day luxuriating in the hot waters. It’s also a good centre for exploring the Black Forest-a cheap bus ride takes you 35km to the Visitor Centre.
If you fly into Baden there is a bus once an hour to the Railway Station and your ticket is valid on the frequent services from there into the old town.

Old world flavor and an incredible therme. There is no way to describe how idyllic this town is. To live there you must be well off but the cost to be a tourist is incredibly reasonable. Top hotels and food for moderate prices. Very friendly people. It will be one of my favorite cities to visit in Germany. And if you get the chance make sure to visit Merkur Mountain.

Definitely the best one on our way from Ireland to Lithuania! Nice and friendly stuff (but be prepared that in the evening time there you will not meet them), amazing location - plenty of lovely paths for walking/running just outside the door and the biggest surprise was breakfast. They feed you the same way they want to eat. I can’t remember I had such an amazing breakfast in my life! 5 star hotel! Will try to get back one day for exploration of Baden Baden and it’s surroundings!
We really enjoyed our overnight stay in this beautiful hotel. The staff were friendly and helpful. Our ground floor room was large and absolutely spotless. Breakfast was good and we had a lovely meal sat out in the pretty garden. The location is near the Merkur funicular and we took advantage of this to go up to Merkur and walk down. It’s located uphill above Baden-Baden which we didn’t visit on this occasion but seems possible to get the bus if you couldn’t face the hill.
This has got to be the most centrally located hotel in Baden Baden...which can often translate into traffic and parking problems. We drove there this time and were delighted to discover how easy it was reach the hotel and park our car. We were parked, checked in and relaxing in our room within minutes...not always the case in Baden Baden. Our entire experience at the Merkur was exquisite.
- Very comfortable suite
- Nice breakfast, although not inclusive in the price
- Not in Baden Baden itself, but Neuweier is beautiful and 15 minutes by car from Baden Baden.
- Nice also to have access to the playing facilities for the children in the backyard garden, although they could be cleaner
- A walk at the vineyards behind the hotel is also worth it.
