Shuttles services to the Tongariro Alpine Crossing can be booked at the lodge. The staff provided exceptional guidance so that we could take stunning views of the mountains during sunset. Very high quality breakfast. Overall, exceeded my expectations in this rather remote/resource limited (to a city person at least) location.

Guests have access to BBQ facilities, large viewing decks around the lodge and luggage storage. There is also a laundry service. Both the guest lounge and the conservatory have a warming fireplace.

The River Lodge staff can help guests organise local activities such as trout fishing guides, summer walks and organise transport such as snow shuttles during winter and volcanic flights. My partner and I stayed at the River Lodge during our Christmas/ summer holiday and it was EXCEPTIONAL. Cleanest room we have ever stayed in. The hosts are fantastic, great vibes all round! The included breakfast was delicious and we had all the amenities we needed. Well worth the price and experience away from a chain hotel. The setting is so green, relaxing and warm. We slept so well as it was so quiet. Highly recommend you stay here if you are planning to hike the Tongariro Alpine Crossing - Dani can organise a direct shuttle to/from the track for you.

Located 17 km from Turoa, Dakune Chill - The Chalet provides accommodation in Ohakune with access to a hot tub. Guests can benefit from a balcony and an outdoor fireplace. Towels and bed linen are provided in the chalet. There is also a seating area and a fireplace. Tekoa lodge was a such as cozy place to stay for a couple of nights. It was a perfect place to come back to after going on hikes and had all the amenities needed to make it a relaxing stay. David, the owner, was very accomodating and incredibly helpful.

Fantastic little house in a row of 4, close to the walks with a great little Cafe just around the corner. Really well supplied kitchen with appliances, cookware etc. Good sized bedrooms. Cute little outside area. Host is fabulous to deal with. House was spotless, probably the cleanest private house I've stayed at. We travelled at Christmas, so Ohakune in general was very relaxed and quiet.

Everything we needed. Comfortable spacious house. We stayed for 2 night over New Year, good location for the Tongariro Crossing and also the Carrot play ground. near to shops, places to eat but also had good utensils, dishes, cooking facilities to make a meal at home. Mountain can be seen from the front garden and you can sit outside at the back and watch the birds in the trees by the stream.

Other facilities at Ruapehu Log Lodge include a billiards table and five-seater spa situated undercover on the deck with views of the mountain. Incredible house! Loved the pool table, board games, hot tub, fully stocked kitchen, piano -- wish we could've stayed longer. Having the wood stove burning for us when we arrived was a nice touch.

Featuring free private parking, the lodge is in an area where guests can engage in activities such as hiking, skiing and billiards. Unbeknown to the host our Whanau live directly across the road so to find this gem was perfect will definitely come back
