The ryokan features family rooms. The owners/staff are extremely kind and accommodating. They went above and beyond to make me feel comfortable. They allowed me to check in early and even let me use the onsen in the afternoon after checkout.

The ryokan also offers free use of bicycles. This place is a wonder. The staff is great, and exceeded my expectations with their service. This hotel has an Onsen, which can be problematic for people with tattoos, but the staff made sure that I can go in and use the Onsen anyways, just had to make sure it was empty beforehand. I would highly recommend staying at this place while visiting Yamagata

Japanese-style rooms have a tatami (woven-straw) floor and traditional futon bedding, while Western rooms come with beds and an en suite bathroom. All rooms are air-conditioned and fitted with an LCD TV and a fridge. The property it is incredibly clean and well maintained in its fantastic traditional structure. The hosts are super friendly and sweet. Although their main language it is not English they do their best to fully communicate with you. You book your time for breakfast, dinner and the bath( which is private to you and your party). The room was very cool and super comfortable. The food was delicious and it felt like a feast all the time. I couldn’t recommend it more.

Surrounded by sacred mountains and untouched nature, Tamonkan is housed in a historic Japanese-style building. Complimentary tea and snacks are served to welcome guests. Dewa Shrine is located an 8-minute walk away. Free WiFi is available in all areas. This was my third time staying and I will return again. I really love the cooking which uses many dishes only found in this area. It’s a short walk to the start of the Haguro San stair walk so it’s ideal to stay here if you are planning to do the walk.

Located within a 10-minute walking distance from the Zao Sky Cable aerial lift, Miyamaso Takamiya features 9 natural hot spring baths for guests to enjoy. The wooden structure of the property portrays a traditional Japanese-style accommodation. Free Wi-Fi is available at the lobby. Very nice, traditional experience! We were very surprised with the diversity of the breakfast. If you want to experience a proper Japanese breakfast, here is one place where you can do that very well. The onsen was very pleasant too, but you might need to get accustomed to the temperature. All in all we had a very pleasant stay here and we can definitely recommend! Thanks a lot :)

At Shikitei Morioka TsunagiOnsen Ryokan, guests can relax in the outdoor/indoor hot spring baths or get a soothing massage at a surcharge. Luggage storage service is available at the front desk and a gift shop and drinks vending machines can also be found on site. Although the hotel was busy during our stay, the check-in was fast and we had no complications. My wife wore a kimono and the staff praised her look a lot. We were able to borrow a specific hanger for the kimono from the hotel, to hang it in our room. The staff was very attentive and fulfilled our requests flawlessly. We felt really relaxed and our stay was very revitalising. The massage therapist comes not directly from the hotel, but instead from a salon nearby. The massage was done in our room and very good, definitely worth the price. As a service we were able to checkout at 11am instead of 10am.

Guests also enjoy access to the sauna and hot spring bath, as well as the public bath and open-air bath. The surroundings, cleanliness, service, facilities and food.

Situated in Kaminoyama, 17 km from Zao Onsen Ski Resort, Oyado Morinone offers accommodation with a sauna, a hot spring bath and a public bath. With garden views, this accommodation provides a balcony. The ryokan features rooms with air conditioning, free private parking and free WiFi. This was the most elegant and restful stay of my life. Food is incredible - deserves a bib gourmand! Rooms are large and comfortable with a view. Onsen is lovely. The best is the free alcohol and hot drink service in the evenings around the fireplace. Definitely stay here if you can! It’s once in a lifetime type stuff
