Hunters Lodge Inn, hotel in Bruton

This hotel offers en suite rooms with a large LCD TV, double-size power showers and free Wi-Fi. It is located 500 yards off the A303, just outside the racing town of Wincanton.

Staff were friendly, kids pack with food was great. Nice atmosphere in the bar. Lots of parking. There were goats separate locked away in a pen, not on the tables as a previous review suggested. Great outdoor space for children and families.

Montigo Resorts, Somerset, hotel in Bruton

At Charlton we appreciate what sits at the very heart of the premium hotel experience: a perfect night's sleep.

I had a terrible stay at Montigo Resorts Somerset. The room was dirty, with mould found in multiple places. I found a hair tie with hair still on it, shower head covered in limescale, proving they don’t clean properly. The staff were unhelpful and insisted the room was fine, clearly just spraying Febreze to mask the nasty smell. The whole hotel is extremely rundown.

This is a truly wonderful part of the country. Stunning countryside views and walks, the historic city of Wells, NT Stourhead, Alfred's Tower, The Haynes Museum and several other attractions within the area. Primarily an agricultural area, but all very well managed, thus creating some stunning scenery. It is an ideal stop-over for those travelling to Devon and Cornwall, but warrants a longer stay to fully appreciate what it has to offer.

I didn't really visit the town of Bruton but it is very convenient for Stourhead National Trust. I highly recommend a visit to the Hauser & Wirth art gallery located in old farm buildings just outside Bruton, with a bar and grill, designer garden and farm shop and plenty of parking.

It’s a pretty village with lots of independent shops and high quality restaurants. We arrived during a heatwave so it seemed rather quiet and shut up so perhaps not quite the vibrant place we were expecting.

We loved Matts Kitchen, a cooling glass of wine at the Cellarhand, and of course the fabulous Hauser & Wirth, which currently has the Henry Moore exhibition, the gardens and The Roth looked amazing.

Beautiful quiet location, friendly hosts/staff, very accommodating to our needs, storage for bicycles and delicious evening meal despite being a busy saturday night with many other bookings. Wonderful breakfast, nice and early for us to be able to cycle on the next day

Bruton is a quintessentially English town in the stunningly beautiful countryside county of Somerset. There are many fascinating areas for picturesque walks - both short and long. There are excellent restaurants locally including a delightful one at the Old Red Lion. Galleries and craft shops to browse in too.
