The pods were great, nice feature and very warm and accommodating. We went with the inlaws so having breakfast on the decking was great.
We also ate in the restaurant and the food was fantastic.

Our hosts were very friendly and welcoming. The continental breakfast was wonderful. Homemade muesli & granola were delicious and there was a splendid array of poached fruit have with it.

Wincanton itself is a small town which has most things you may need but is not a pretty town like other places in Dorset. The pub/hotel is not nearby to anything and is quote close to the A303, so a convenient place for a stop over when travelling.

It was a shame the shop (Terry Pratchett) was closed across road. Would have loved to visit - perhaps next time. Great butchers across road. Very quiet village, but we were visiting other places during day and didnt have time to look around much. Great farm shop and art gallery in Bruton. The Newt is close by and farm shops local. We ate at the dolphin hotel/pub, food good but when new restaurant opens in courtyard expect bigger menu. Wincanton is easy to get around. Would visit again as everyone so lovely and helpful at the Dolphin.

Apart from the Dolphin, which was excellent, we also had a meal and a few drinks down the road in Wincanton at the Nog Inn, which was also good. It was easy to walk around the town - fairly compact. One or two premises (e.g. hotels) were closed down.

The two best things about Wincanton were, for us, The Nog Inn (good food, delightful staff and a lovely 'beer garden or outside space,) and Hooga Coffee... a wonderful place for delicious breakfasts and probably good food all day. The town is built on hills or one long hill which is difficult for walking if you don't like traversing hills. There is also a lot of traffic as it seems to be a kind of through-town with a very busy junction at the centre where four roads intersect.
The setting and decor of the building and internally. Friendly greetings on arrival and departure. The kitchenette was very well stocked, making the lack of catering service unimportant. We booked two rooms and, due to the layout of the area, it felt as if we had the house to ourselves. The rooms were bright, well-stocked with a kettle, tea, coffee, hot chocolate. milk and biscuits. There was, also, a teapot. The ensuite was spotless and included a shower jell, freshner and ample towels. Everything spoke quality.
The room was surprisingly big with some comforts and a good shower room. It was very peaceful and quiet, despite being close to the busy A303, and overlooked the children's play area, pygmy goat pen and fields. Breakfast was generous and the quality good. The staff were welcoming and helpful. The location was perfect for anyone travelling on the A303 or, like us, visiting the magnificent Stourhead house and world-famous garden.
Ideal country retreat just outside Wincanton. Very comfortable and quiet, good sized bedroom and en-suite plus the excellent additional facilities of a small fridge in the bedroom and a shared kitchen. Nice and quiet, slept really well over the 5 nights we were there and very dog friendly with ideal outdoor lawn area. Very friendly hosts and will stay again when next in the area to visit family and friends.
absolutely lovely and well thought out accommodation. I slept so well and the room and bathroom are large and comfortable.
I’ve stayed in many hotels around the world and this place is better than some of them. amazing value for money, superb breakfast and very welcoming staff. I could have happily stayed for longer. thank you Nog Inn
Great Location, Great Accommodation with Parking, Ideal as I went to Wincanton Races the following day. The pub supported us horse racing fans with Horse racing on Sky, Great Food, Great Breakfast and Great Staff, will stay here again definately.
Food was excellent for dinner and breakfast.
Lots of parking spaces available.
Electric car charging point also present.
Big garden with children's playground.
Goats (I think) on site at the bottom of the garden area.
Perfectly positioned in the center of the delightful little haven which is Wincanton. The whole place radiated good natural energy. Couldn't fault the room. Perfect for what I needed. Comfortable and beautiful.
Great value, lovely location in the middle of Wincanton Racecourse.
Fantastic countryside and views around. If you're looking for a nice place for a meal, i'd recommend the Stags Head at Yarlington.
It was conveniently located for last minute 1-night lodging. There was plenty of parking. We had a good meal in the restaurant. The breakfast was included with our lodging and was good as well.
