Ubud City-Centre
In the city centre
As hectic as it gets in Ubud. The city centre revolves around Ubud Market, the old forum of street trade. Browse for suitcase-filling souvenirs, then go bananas in the Monkey Forest. Stroke your chin at paintings at Museum Puri Lukisan before tapping your foot to some jazz stylings at Laughing Buddha Bar. The fun doesn’t stop!

Campuhan
1.4 miles from city centre
How green is your valley? Campuhan’s is mega-lush. Breathe deep as you clamber along the Ridge Walk through rice paddies and the thickest, greenest vegetation. Head back into town and tuck into a plate of sticky pork ribs from legendary restaurant Naughty Nuri’s. If you have a sweet tooth, don’t miss the dark chocolate brûlée at Room4Desserts.

Set amid tropical jungle ravines, terraced rice paddies and emerald rolling hills, the town of Ubud has long been considered the spiritual and cultural hub of Bali.
A peaceful respite from the livelier Kuta, Ubud is all about kicking back, relaxing and being at one with nature. One of the town’s most famous attractions is the Ubud Monkey Forest – a dense swathe of jungle housing three holy temples and over 600 Balinese long-tailed macaques who delight in roaming the ancient site. Another must-see spot is the UNESCO-listed Tegalalang Rice Terrace, known for its photo opportunities, verdant scenery and the iconic ‘Love Bali’ swing.
The hilltop Campuhan Ridge Walk – the best-known of Ubud’s hiking trails – takes you on a journey through beautiful rice paddies and grasslands, from where you can enjoy sweeping countryside views. Another great lookout spot is the summit of Mount Batur – located about an hour or so north of town. Hikers enjoy climbing this active volcano to be rewarded with spectacular views of the crater and the shimmering Lake Batur.
Ubud is a great place to soak up Balinese culture. From the rock-hewn cave of Goa Gajah to the ancient Hindu temple of Pura Taman Saraswati, there are plenty of cultural gems dotted around this laid-back town. You can also shop for traditional Balinese arts and crafts at the Ubud Art Market, which famously featured in the film ‘Eat, Pray, Love’.

loved the forest, nature, fruits, culture. but too many tourist traps, some spots which are recommended in every guide are just designed for instagram shots. stay away from these spots. rent a bike and travel around the island. find your own path. don’t rent a car traffic is crazy.

the view, forests, meals (many options for vegans), culture, local people are very friendly to tourists, very clean air but very very touristic place. there are many spots suggested in bali guides are all instagram places and locals are pushing you to pay some amount for each attaction eg when you enter a touristic place you pay an entrance fee plus additonal fee to see&visit more. i know the economy is totally based on tourism but this is not a friendly approach. there are some hidden spots you may travel by yourself if you can ride a motorbike and living a moment in these places is just unforgettable and must i suppose.

The place was awesome, filled with nature, art, and waterfalls. 🌿🎨 The people are friendly and helpful. The area is adorned with statues showcasing realistic and artistic features. Highly recommend visiting at least once in your lifetime to experience this artistic country. 🥰

I have been to Ubud many times now over the last 20 years. It has become quite busy, gone are the days when there actually wasn't anybody there. Nevertheless it still a welcome change from the Kuta, Legian and Seminyak areas. There are many wonderful places to visit in Ubud and the surrounding provinces.

Unlike its reputation as a chill, artistic retreat (which it was 20 years ago when we last visited), Ubud is now just a noisy and overcrowded city with awful traffic! I never thought I would say these words, but Legian/Kuta are quieter and more chill than Ubud! I won't return in future trips. If it's the waterfalls or ATV tours etc. you're after, these can all be done as a day trip from somewhere else.
