Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

GermanyNothing much to complain about. Two details one might want to be aware of in advance: -Room nr 206 had no sunlight due to the fact that the window was blocked so it couldn’t actually be opened, which is always a bit of a shame. -The layout of the building is set up in way that the rooms are all connected the one main staircase and are separated only by a fairly thin glass door. So if you are sensitive to both some occasional sounds from the neighbours on their way down or up the staircase or if you can’t help but need a pitchblack room to sleep in, you’d want to make sure you bring a sleeping mask and earplugs.
I really like the spaciousness of our room. We stayed in a 3 bed room with ensuite bathroom. The bed was comfortable, the bathroom well equipped with towels, shampoo, toilet paper, tooth brushes and even a disposable razor. Breakfast was includes and ordered à la carte, ie there were several options (western style with toast and jam, eggs poached, scrumbled etc) and several drinks (coffee, tea, juice) which I think was amazing considering the very reasonable price per night. Laundry was optional, also tourist agency services were available at the home stay but we used neither. The location in bit of a quiet corner of the buzzing Old Town was great in my opinion. Endless options for restaurants and cafés can be reached within walking distance.

AustraliaThe main drawback was the significant amount of light coming through the door, which had a large window panel. This made the room quite bright, even at night, and affected my sleep. Overall, I enjoyed my stay and appreciated the friendly service and convenient location. With a bit of improvement to the door design, it would be an even better place to stay.
The room was big and the bed was very comfortable, ensuring a good night's sleep. The shower was adequate, though it wasn't quite hot enough for my preferences. The location is excellent, within walking distance to the main spots, making it easy to explore the area. The highlight of my stay was the marvelous staff, who were incredibly helpful and friendly.

United StatesOur laundry was late by about 45 minutes when we were getting ready to leave Hanoi. Fortunately, we had hired a private car so did miss our ride. It would have been bad if we had bus tickets though.
The bed was very comfortable. There were plenty of tables, chairs, and places to put your things. The patio was nice and had furniture. The host family was very kind and helpful. The breakfast was delicious.

PakistanThere was nothing that I disliked.
It's an amazing place, ideally situated in the famous Old Quarter, next to the train street. Perfume is a wonderful host, welcoming and helping all her guests with a smile. Staying there felt like home away from home. I would highly recommend it and would like to stay there in my future Vietnam visit.

The owner was all the time around and helped us with everything. We got a lot of tips on where to go and what to see. She helped us plan our trip and organized a bus with pickup from the hotel. Breakfast was very delicious and even as we asked with a huge jetlag at 11.30 am it was no issue. Great first stop in Vietnam. 100% recommendation from us.

Unbeatable location and value for money. Hanoi Family Homestay is indeed home in Hanoi for us, we are welcomed like family, and Perfume did everything with great efficiency, from booking our tours, airport pickup, meals, taxi, shopping. Her attention to details is exceptional. She's a gem and a dear friend. Thanks Perfume for a truly memorable stay in Hanoi. Special thanks the early check-in.

We arrived very early and were still allowed to check in. Breakfast was good, Perfume also gave us a complimentary home cooked meal with her family and friends which was a nice touch. She also allowed us to leave our suitcases at the property on the day we left. She works incredibly hard to make your stay the best it can possibly be. She will book you trips, offers SIM cards and travel money and has a cute dog. The location is also perfect in the old town just a hundred metres from train street. The reviews are correct this is a gem in the centre of the chaos of Hanoi.
