Try this resort if you want to escape Waikiki and explore the East and North coasts.

This resort is a long way from anywhere but that can be part of its charm. A car is essential to access it and to even go out to a restaurant, yet $15US plus tax is charged each day for car parking! If this was just included in the fees, it would not be such an issue. On check in, I was told that coffee, fruit and banana bread would be available early in the morning. That sounded great, but irrespective of what time I rocked up in the morning, all that was left was the coffee and a couple of bits of fruit. Probably not worth mentioning really. The information on the Booking.com site says "An Aloha Nights Buffet Dinner is offered on Monday and Wednesday. Other activities include Pau Hana Friday's Dinner & Fireknife Show." These didn't happen, so they shouldn't be on that website.

We ended up with a room that was not near the water as we had hoped for, but was up high and was even better! We had fantastic views of the water and the mountains beyond. The whole resort is an older style that has had work done on it to make it very usable. It is in basically a residential area and the staff were helpful with various requests we had. Its location was great for us exploring the north and east coasts prior to our stay in Waikiki.

There was a musty smell in our room that didn’t go away. It smells like black mold. When we reported it, the maintenance guy said that he didn’t smell anything. (He must have gotten used to the smell I guess) We saw black mold inside the AC vent. There were also water damage at the bottom of the kitchen cabinet.I had an allergic reaction to the mold but we had no choice but to stay since there’s no other available hotels in the area that week. We didn’t turn the AC on at all to avoid the spread of mold spores. We kept our windows and doors open. 5 days that we had to deal with that. Also the pictures in your website is outdated.

    We really like the location.

Facility could use better lighting. Parking was challenging for the high cost. It should not cost to park.

The staff was great. Very friendly and accommodating, even upgrading to a room with a view of the bay. Enjoyed the kayaks and sitting on the dock in the evening.

Our room was clean and comfortable but not as pictured. The bathroom was totally functional, but aesthetically, it could use an upgrade. A small disappointment in a lovely setting.

The overall facilities were very nice. The view from our balcony was amazing. Every morning, we would awaken, make coffee, walk out onto our deck, and watch the morning rise over the mountains while listening to the roosters crowing and the birds singing. We filmed most mornings to capture the feeling and take it home. The staff are amazing, kind and very helpful. We had a medical emergency, and they were extremely helpful.

Thought I had booked a room with a balcony but, apparently I did not. They did upgrade us, which was nice but room needed updating, cleaning, and more comfortable furniture so it didn't really feel like an upgrade. Roosters walk us up every morning, which I enjoyed but my daughter did not. Key to room was hard to get door open but staff member showed us a trick to make it work.

Staff was lovely and helpful. Banana bread each morning was yummy. Enjoyed lounging on floating docks and walking down to the beach where a sea turtle was hanging out every day of our stay! The boat ride for snorkeling was amazing!

No one warned us that this is the wet and windy side of the island. Although we paid a resort fee, the hot tub was not hot, fees were charged for the few kayaks and one paddle board and we were charged for parking too.

Great staff. When our room on the first night was unacceptable, they upgraded us and gave us 2 nights without the resort fee. There was also a wonderful evening entertainer. This could be a great little place but furniture was cheap outdoor furniture and few places to put things. You definitely need a car as nothing is close by.

The living room furniture and deck furniture were not too comfortable. We were having a really great experience until new guest arrived at the unit right across from us. They were extremely loud, rude and disrespectful. To the point we were not able to enjoy the wonderful view from our deck or really open all the curtains and doors. Due to the closest of the decks and the fact that the resort has no control of rude people that do create an ugly experience I wouldn't come back. While there's a quite of bit of parking it was a bit of a nightmare because again 'people' just don't have any consideration for others and take up extra spaces or park crooked so you can't use a space... etc.

The resort was in a lovely spot with a nice view of the Kahalu'u Pond. It's in a quiet neighbored hood off the beaten path. The rooms where spacious with very comfortable beds and all you need to cook your own meals. Bathroom was absolutely beautiful. I also appreciated all the Wonderfull windows and heavy curtains to close at night. There were several sliding glass doors so you could open them all up and really enjoy the fabulous weather. When we where able to sit on the deck of the room it was absolutely fantastic. Best morning place for a cup of coffee in the morning or a glass of wine in the evening.

Couch inside was very uncomfortable. Cushions wouldn’t stay on it. No dresser to put clothes in so they were everywhere. Could also use more hooks to hang things on to dry (towels, robes, swimsuits) The ceiling fan light over the bed would randomly turn on in the middle of the night. Not impressed by that. The biggest complaint we had…the shower. You didn’t get more than 4-5 min into a shower before you lost hot water. Temperature control on it was terrible. Sound proofing between units also could be improved.

The views from the waterfront cottage and the grounds of the entire resort were spectacular. The pool area was great as well. Rooms were comfortable. Staff was friendly.

I was disappointed to find out that the restaurant/bar was closed and that there were no buffet/evening events anymore - the resort was very upfront about this but it was such a shame. As the resort is in a residential area, it would be so much better if there were food and drink facilities available there. Hopefully, it will start up again soon!

The views were lovely, the room was very comfortable and our patio was great. We chilled out here at the end of our trip to Hawaii, just before leaving, and it was a scenic spot to do so.

Rooms were good, some of the cabinetry a bit worse for the wear. Food options in the immediate area are more limited without going to Kailua. Breakfast was just some banana bread and coffee so stocking up on some more breakfast foods would be a good idea.

Beautiful property, kayaking out into the bay with the epic mountains was a highlight. View of the same mountains from the breakfast /check in area.

Prices in Hawaii are getting higher and probably this is a fair price in comparison. but Hawaii is starting to exceed my budget for travel?

The resort doesn’t offer any meals or drinks. It’s totally self-service, which wasn’t fantastic value for money. We asked for our room to be serviced (we were there for seven nights) but it didn’t happen. The room was getting a tad grimy by the end of our stay, and a change of bed linen would have been appreciated.

The location is serene and the antithesis of busy Waikiki. The staff are delightful and super helpful.
