Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesThe sink was small & awkward. I got more water on the floor then on my face when I was washing my makeup off.
It was perfect for a one night stay, even 2 or 3 nights. But only for 1 or 2 people. It was too small for any more.

United StatesTypical big-city downsides: hard to access by car, which makes it a tough roadtrip destination for college tours. Have to park a block away. Room is 1/3 the size and everything scaled down for city location, where space is everything. If you can stay outside the city and transport in, do it. But the staff really tries to make you feel at home if you do need to stay there. Breakfast and luggage storage were nice services that helped justify a slightly pricey stay, but again, consider the location.
Excellent, professional, and friendly desk staff. We were touring FIT and the hotel kept our luggage for us after checkout so we didn't have to worry about it. Great location for touring FIT. Close access to the trains. Walkable to Hamburger America. Nice breakfast and seating area, even with a lot of people in there.

United StatesThe tub in the shower drained extremely slowly so you ended up standing in a pool of dirty water.
Good, central location and close to the 34th street subway station. From check-in, every employee we encountered was very nice which is a rarity in NYC. The room was clean and the breakfast was a nice selection.

PolandHowever, you have to have your expectations built up to use this hotel. The elevators are slow and sometimes you have to wait a long time (there are only two and at one point one of them did not work at all). American breakfasts with very little variety - personally I did not like them at all and preferred nearby restaurants with breakfast. The breakfast area in the hotel was rather small, and I did not see anyone cleaning it after guests (guests took and threw trash in the bin themselves, or not...). The room was very small. The air conditioner was very loud and had to be turned off to sleep normally. The room key stopped working twice. The hotel staff was not very helpful or polite - they did not fulfill requests addressed to them several times. The day before check-out, the toilet in the room clogged and no one came to fix it. After check-out, the hotel wanted to wrongly charge for allegedly drunk bottles of water that the hotel leaves in the room (they are paid).
The hotel is in a good location - close to the subway, Penn Station, and you can walk to many attractions (including Times Square, Empire State Building). Very good location for sightseeing in Manhattan. The rooms are rather clean, but they are cleaned every other day.

United KingdomDining area extremely busy at breakfast. Our room had two double beds so no drawers for storage - we had to live out of our cases. Only two lifts so sometimes a long wait.
Staff were very helpful. Location fantastic. Breakfast being included made it good value for money. Good selection at breakfast. Room was clean, air con good and shower good.

FranceWe stayed only one night after Hampton Inn Brooklyn and it was not our best experience. Breakfast area was small and not so clean (maybe because of other guests), staff was not very pleasant, not even smiling which is rare in the US. Bathroom was old and in bad shape
Location was good, especially if you take a train or bus as we did (7min walk to Penn Station). Room was Clean and beds were ok. Air con did its job.

North MacedoniaThe breakfast was below average. Based on eggs and waffles. For someone who has been there for a week, every day the same choice, with almost no choice. A room with almost no daylight, not enough space to leave clothes, especially for someone staying longer than a night or two.
The location is perfect and the staff is pleasant and helpful.

IrelandWe were for 4 nights. We were at the breakfast every morning at 8(so I don’t think it was late) and there was not enough warm food for us, the staff was telling us that there is no more left… there was no alternative milk for 2 mornings and no waffle mix one morning and staff at the breakfast wasn’t helpful at all. Apart from that all good.
Nice and clean. Very good location.

LatviaThe carpets in the room were not fresh, take flip flops with. No disattached shower.
Room was rather small, but it was mentioned and not surprising. Breakfast added, although, not a great variety, but very much sufficient for the day start. Coffee, some refreshing drinks, porridge, eggs and bacon/sausages, waffles, bread and butter.

United StatesThey were all out of any toppings though (chocolate sauce and caramel) which was a bummer. Also there wasn’t a clear traffic pattern, so breakfast was basically chaos. Maybe a separate table for the microwave since it was almost impossible to get to. Also, the sink was small in the bathroom, and the mirror stuck out quite a bit from the wall, so I couldn’t wash my face in the sink without smashing my forehead into the mirror and getting water all over the place.
For breakfast, I liked the waffle machines (particularly the strawberry) and these little premade omelets they had.

United StatesMaybe the only downside is that the rooms were not very big, which is expected in NYC. I'm not saying I was uncomfortable, I'm just saying they are smaller than in other places.
You can't beat the location. 1 block away from Penn station. The place was very clean. But the most important thing was the staff. They were super friendly and helpful. We had a situation in our room and it was fixed immediately. Literally we had some coffee downstairs and when we went back up it was resolved.
