  • Nikko Guesthouse Sumica Review score: 9

“The guesthouse is in a great location between the 2 train stations and near to the bus stops. The owner and staff are very friendly and helpful, giving informations and recommendations about Nikko. The female dorm was clean and comfortable as were the toilets and shower. There is free tea and coffee and use of the kitchen. The guesthouse is very small and friendly.”

  • “Very affordable and close to Tobu Kinugawa Onsen railway station.”

  • “The property is clean and very quiet. The facilities are nice and they offer you a lot of amenities for free (see toothbrushes, earplugs,..).”

  • “Nice place not far from the station. The owner was really nice.”

  • B&B Izumi Nikko Review score: 10

“Thanks to the host's very high level of service, even without a car you can enjoy staying in this tranquil spot overlooking the forest and stream on the edge of town. Izumi kindly offered transfers to and from the station and dropped us at the bus stop early to ensure we were on the best bus to visit Lake Chuzenji and its waterfalls when autumn colours were peaking. He also dropped us at the abyss enroute to check-in and took our luggage up to the accommodation to ensure we maximised our 1st day. The breakfasts were generous and delicious. The room was compact but very comfortable and had everything we needed, plus several lovely touches like bath salts, to ensure we had a wonderful stay. The balcony overlooking the forest is a rare treat and we saw deer hiding in the shadows.”

  • Hotel Famitic Myojin Review score: 5

“The staff were really nice and helpful. As the location is out of the way the host drove us to the nearest train station each day. The breakfast was a typical Japanese breakfast with a small amount of western food(bread rolls and eggs). There was not a lot of choice in Nikko and this was relatively cheap.”

  • “The young man Kono-san who manages the place was quite friendly and assisted with information, storing my bags and lending me a brolly on a very wet Nikko day. Room was a good size with the bare minimum, a small table against the wall with a lamp, TV, charging point and fridge under it. There was another table with a chair next to the bed which was handy if using a laptop or having a meal. Located just outside the side entrance are 2 private baths, wonderful on a cold wet day that were open from 4 pm (45 minute limit per use). Had a nice assortment of bakery items for breakfast, pre-ordered before 11pm the night before, which were warm and fresh.”

  • Turtle Inn Nikko Review score: 9

“Charming, accessible location. An authentic feel of a village inn. Awesome hospitality. English-speaking owner offers great info on attractions including a hiking pilgrim trail down the road along a river. The shared bathroom is a private onsen, a most welcoming treat after a long day of walking.”
