Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

NetherlandsThe bathroom was not suitable for people with a disability. The bed was narrow. The entry to the hotel had some small barriers, that could easily be changed into an accessible entry.
The restaurant was excellent! Food quality super, very comfortable seats, very kind services. It was also nice to be able to make a hot drink in the room.

United StatesParking is challenging but we were lucky enough to get a spot right in front of the hotel, using the blue tag from the concierge.
The location is fabulous - right in the old part of town with restaurants galore and with a beautiful terrace bar overlooking a canal with beautiful sailing yachts. The breakfast, which was included, was copious and beautifully served. The rooms are small and very basic but comfortable. Steps to the upper floors are a bit challenging but there is an elevator.

CanadaSome aspects of facilities are a little worn such as carpet in halls and upholstery of easy chairs. Beds getting a bit too soft. These are old buildings with some challenges but no lack of charm.
Breakfast very good. Lots of choice. Could have eggs to order. Staff very friendly and service excellent.

JerseyA very nice property with an excellent view and parking outside. Just a stroll around the corner to shops and restaurants. We had a delicious dinner, well presented and the staff were very friendly. They have a huge wine list!

United Kingdom40 hours wasn't long enough to find any faults, and I'm sure it could be a bit quiet for some people, but livelier places are close at hand, and you can then come back 'home' to this charming place.
I read 1 or 2 earlier reviews, suggesting it was a bit tired and dowdy. Ignore them. Die Port van Cleve oozes charm and character. It is an old Dutch house with not a lot of space, but everything is done very well. Great staff, fine food, comfy room, enviable location in this brilliant historic town. (If you want a modern, spacious hotel, go find one and stay there!). But you'd be missing out on lovely memories at this hotel.

Beautiful hotel only a few minutes walk from the train station. The staff were super friendly and the room was very clean. The breakfast was delicious and lots of choice, we also had an amazing dinner in the evening which I would recommend.

NetherlandsThe rooms are good. No problem. But it is clear they have been created/furnished some time ago. I was glad I brought my sleeping mask as the curtains let through a lot of light. It is still great value for money and I would visit this hotel again.
Excellent location in the center, view on the water with a sunny terrace (in the summer). Good restaurant with 'classic' European food. Breakfast is diverse.

NetherlandsWhen we checked in we were told that we had only booked the suite for two adults and one child (which wasn't the case: we had booked for two children) and so we had to pay extra for another children's cot. We had also confirmed that the rooms were suitable for our group in advance, by messaging the hotel through Booking. Luckily a cot was available. Something similar happened at the other hotel we stayed at during our trip, so I think there's a problem with how Booking passes on the information from the search and reservation.
Clean, comfortable, spacious rooms with nice views of the water. The suite had a very nice jacuzzi bath.

ChileSometimes I heard some noises but it could be caused by the wind. My other colleagues who stayed in other rooms said their rooms were very small, they could even touch the ceiling just by raising their hands.
I really liked the breakfast and my room was big and comfortable. It allow me to work easily and was very spacious.

United StatesThis was our 4th trip to Enkhuizen, and this was our first time staying at at Die Port van Cleve (3 nights). We used the hotel as our base for exploring the Netherlands. They have good quality European breakfast. Eggs were cooked to order. Both the room and bathroom were a good size. All the staff were friendly and helpful. This hotel has a good location -- a good balance between the downtown stores, restaurants, and the train station/parking. We've never eaten the evening meal here; however, we've observed that many other travelers do. The location does not suffer from nighttime bar noise or morning trash pickup and delivery noise. I imagine that we will stay here on our next trip.
