Everything was perfect! The only little detail is that the rooms have no dark curtains. So we were awake at 04:30 in the morning with the sunrise :)

It was very calm, clean. The bath was very relaxing. The internet works very well. Food is good. The owners were very helpful and nice to us. They picked us up from the station, brought to Snow Monkey park and also cooked vegetables for our 2 years old and gave a gift as a memory.

Absolutely nothing.

Extremely nice ryokan. We were picked up at the station and taken to the Monkey park by the couple owning the ryokan. They then brought the luggage back to the hotel. We had lunch at Enza café next to the monkey park. Very nice meal and apple icecream. We were a bit worried that there would be no monkeys but the place was full of monkeys of different sizes. Amazing to see. We would recommend the kaiseki meal for yen 6000 per person in the evening at the ryokan. It was not just a meal, but an experience. Also nice onsen at the hotel. The one with a view is the best of the two. Private use. Breakfast was great. We were dropped of at the station by the owners of the ryokan. Very friendly couple. We also forgot a cardigan which they informed us of and then sent it to us to one of the next hotels on our trip. We would definitely go back!

Best food on our trip - the host catered two delicious veggie meals for us with an amazing variety of japanese food in a beautiful tatami room. Still dreaming of it! The private onsen was a blast and our tatami room had cute chairs, traditional clothing to wear in the guesthouse and comfortable futons. They picked us up at the train station and drove us directly to the monkey park. Getting back from there by bus was easy. We were also driven to the train station next morning.

Generous hosts, we arrived before check in and they transported our luggage from the train station to yhe accommodation while we explored Yudanaka. The onsen were both private and the larger one was especially beautiful and peaceful. We chose to book in for one of the dinners here and it blew us away - incredible! Delicious seasonal ingredients and many courses. We also booked in for a breakfast one morning too, which was also delicious. Our room was so comfy and came with kimono for us to enjoy. The hosts also transported us to the Monkey Park one day, which was very easeful and efficient for us - we enjoyed a big day of walking and saw what felt like hundreds of freely roaming macaques snow monkeys ! Loved this accomodation. Would definitely come back.

Hands down the best experience you can have in Japan. Absolutely wonderful hosts! We weren't going to impose by having dinner/breakfast due to my partner being a Celiac, until the owners encouraged us to stay for food. We had the best Gluten Free meal of our trip. It was perfectly authentic. We are truly thankful to the owners for their efforts in making sure we were well fed. We cannot recommend this accommodation enough. 11/10 review! Highly recommend to anyone looking to stay. Also the Onsen is amazing. P.S the host won't take kokorozuke in the form of money but is happy to receive a food gift :)

the host was amazing ! she looked after us , made sure we arrived safely from the train station by arranging a lift. also arranged a lift to snow monkey park . we ate dinner and breakfast here and loved the variety of meals and the massive effort made . the onsen was large and clean and we loved the matching bath robes (japanese yukatas) provided for our family of 5 . the shared bathrooms are spotless as it is a small , family run Ryokan , so need to worry about sharing. the onsen can also easily be used privately as this allowed our family to share this onsen together. thanks for a lovely stay :)

My favourite Onsen-Ryokan experience! The property is beautiful, the baths were beautiful and the dinner and breakfast were exceptional! You can use either of the two baths privately, which was wonderful for my partner and myself. The owners of this Ryokan are the most accommodating and welcoming people who go above and beyond for their guests - we loved it!

Good space, great breakfast and dinner! Onsen was really good too! The owners were very attentive, even with limited english, everything was a breeze to coordinate! They even picked up and dropped us back to the station, also drove us to see snow monkeys! There’s also 7eleven behind the property so easy to get whatever we needed.

The futon beds were not very comfortable for a tall European man, but we knew this in advance. It’s part of the experience so we were still very happy to stay here.

A traditional Japanese Ryokan experience. The two hosts are really friendly and hard working to give you an unforgettable experience. They come to pick you up from the train station, bring you to the snow monkey park and bring you back to the station. The dinner and breakfast were really good, would recommend dining with them for at least one night. The onsen is unbelievable, we have used it several times. You can use it privately (not by reservation but you know if it is occupied by checking the flags).

A few small things could use a little refresh - flower arrangements, towels, for example. I hesitate to say this because of how hard the owners already work, but know there is competition details like this may matter to some travelers.

My party of 3 adults was attracted to this property because it was small, offered transportation services, and the staff were very informative and responsive communicators prior to our stay. This was our first trip to Japan and this was our first stop out of Tokyo. We felt we were heading to a warm, inviting home by train. And it was. We appreciated the pick-up and drop-off services at the train station (it was a walkable distance though) and the transport to the Snow Monkey Park early enough for us to be one of the first in the park before the crowds came (highly recommend this strategy). Our room was very spacious and the bedding was remarkably comfortable. We enjoyed the onsen daily and loved that since it was a small ryokan with not many people around, we had the opportunity to enjoy gazing out to the peaceful garden without distractions. We arrived late afternoon and enjoyed the kaiseki dinner prepared by the host. Be warned, the portions are quite large! We ended up, sadly, leaving large portions of the waygu beef behind because we had already eaten so many courses! This was our first kaiseki and the portions were much larger than expected. Oishi (delicious)! but be prepared with a big appetite. The host also served us her own plum wine she made. The owners are very hard workers and are very accommodating to guests.
