Outdoor swimming pool wasn't opening until the end of June!

Stunning location, overlooking the bay, set in well planted gardens. Loved the sento (hot communal bath) and its outlook over the garden. Food in the restaurant was very tasty, beds very comfortable.

The views from the room across the bay were fabulous. The room was spacious, beds comfy. Plenty of choice at breakfast. We loved the gardens and walk down to the beach. The onsen was good and the outside onsen had views of the sea. Staff excellent and very attentive. Location good easy to get into town. We had an evening meal in the restaurant which tasted delicious looked like a beautiful piece of art but each dish was small.

Location was wonderful, not far from some historical sites. Nice private area with a garden overlooking the ocean. However, not a lot for kids to offer or do at the facility.

I would have liked a better AC in the room, as it is quite humid and warm for sleeping.

The location is lovely and excellent for exploring Shimoda with a lovely walk down the cliff road and back up again. The room was spacious for two, but lacked air conditioning and a fan in the bathroom. The beds were good and the staff were very welcoming and delightful. The Japanese breakfast buffet was plenty, the “western” breakfast a little short on fresh croissants and fruit, with hot foods being lukewarm. However, the service is impeccable and gracious. The shuttle bus is very regular and efficient to bring travellers to and from the train station. We loved our time in Shimoda and the graciousness of all the many people we met.

The cleaning staff missed a few bits of rubbish on the floor.

We stayed on the 6th floor right up the end in a room with an ocean view, which was spectacular. The room was comfortable and (mostly) clean, the onsen was refreshing, breakfast was good, and the service was excellent. Would stay again.

Hotel public bath was quite crowded and some parts were a bit dated. It's not really walkable to the town so we had to depend on the shuttle bus which ends quite early before 6pm

The beds have only a duvet which was excellent quality feathers however was too warm for us. Perhaps there is an option for lighter covers but our stay was brief so we did not ask

Parking, check-in, room view, location... everything was wonderful and better than years ago as the hotel has had a refresh. Highly recommend if you want a great Shimoda hotel but dont require being on a sand beach like Prince Shirahama or Tatado Yakatokan. The bay below the Tokyu bar far the best for swimming with no waves and crystal clear water.

Service at the restaurant for dinner. It was hard to get attention from the server. Dinner plate should be warmed up to serve hot food.

Buffet style breakfast was very good. Fresh, tasty and many to choose from. Wonderful public hot bath where you can see the ocean view. The hotel provided shuttle services from the station.

The only restaurant on premises served expensive western food - we walked into town for reasonably priced local cuisine.

Beautiful location between town and beach. Room offered ocean views. Staff were very welcoming and helpful. Shuttle service to the train station was great. Onsen, particularly outdoor bath, was lovely.
