Beautiful spacious, comfortable Japanese rooms (plenty of room for family of four including two teenage boys) and lovely little onsen right on top floor. Sweet staff and delightful Japanese breakfast. Didn’t eat dinner here but had amazing meal at a little izakaya nearby.

The Onsen was quite small and not as hot as some others but still a good experience.

We had a lovely large room that was very clean and comfortable. Staff were so helpful and friendly. Fabulous service. Delightful dinner.

Great family run hotel with an amazing garden and location. It was hard to get accomodation in the town, which meant we had to pay more for our room, however it was massive. With two toilets, two 8mat tatami rooms, and a sitting area overlooking the river. We had a huge room, with dinner and breakfast included. We went to sleep with the sound of the river. Staff were excellent.

Japanese breakfast is not our favorite and no coffee available. Towels used for Onsen also needed for shower. Bedding on floor did not provide enough padding relative to other places we stayed.

About a 13 minute walk from train station. Near historic section of town with view of river. Japanese dinner was good and not as fancy as others we had but tasty. Onsen was nice. Not as touristy.

The hard stop at 9:00 to get into the hotel. One of us was lost on a mountain so it got complicated.

It was beautiful, well located and the Staff was very helpful. We loved the dog and should have the dog out more often. We lived the onsen.

Probably it was a language barrier, but there was a miscommunication during check in about having breakfast included which wasn't the case in the end, no big deal, just make sure to use the translating app to verify things :)

Super cozy room with a beautiful view, yukatas and haoris provided during our stay together with a toiletries bag. The bublic bath was small but cozy

None of the expected extras like cold water in room, welcome biscuit and bedside light or remote control. The shower room was basic and the outside onsen small. Felt it was a little overpriced.

The staff was so lovely and accommodating and the place was clean and beautiful. The location is great because it’s close to all the other towns that are part of the Nakasendo trail, but is still quiet enough that you can relax and enjoy the town’s atmosphere.

It was all good.

We had one of the biggest rooms in the property, with a separate living room from the bedroom, plus a seating area overlooking the river. Lovely traditional style, futon beds were made up ready on our arrival. I really liked the public bath, particularly the outside one. It was raining/snowing a lot the morning after we stayed, and there were umbrellas we could borrow, as well as being able to sit in the lobby for an hour or so after checking out. Sweet little old lady who is the owner. Breakfast was Japanese, lots of little tasty dishes, more than enough.

The service was exceptional and exemplary. They went over and beyond when addressing our requests. The hotel owner even followed us all the way to the convenience store after we had checked out just to give us additional information about our transportation to our next destination.

The shower room was very cold, but it didn’t take long to heat up.

We booked the family suite and as there was only 2 of us it was incredibly spacious and very nice. We also enjoyed the river views with comfortable arm chairs and all the sliding doors. The Onsen was lovely and had small hot outdoor pool overlooking the mountains.

Everything was great.

My room was spacious, clean, and well kept (i.e. no obvious signs of wear and tear). The hallways and bath were clean, neat, and in great shape. The outdoor bath in particular was lovely and is the reason I chose this ryokan.
