Very friendly ski lodge for English speaking guests. The owner and staff were very helpful arranging for ski rentals and gave me a ride to the Niseko train station. Loved the location a few minutes' walk to the lifts at Annupuri, the onsen, and a variety of highly rated nearby restaurants. The included breakfasts are really good and I stayed in and ate the very good ramen at the lodge all 3 nights.

Lodge 401 was truly a home away from home. My husband and I felt comfortable in a big room with a comfy bed and couch - and the staff were so incredibly kind. Plus, we were just a minute's walk from the gondola!

Getting to Hirafu was a bit of a mission on the resort bus if the top lifts weren't open, taxis were OK but not always available.

Awesome location, so close to Annapuri Gondola. Rhys and the staff were friendly and very helpful, the restaurant was great and the breakfasts set us up for a great day on the snow.

Rhys and the rest of the staff are incredibly kind and helped me a lot during my stay, food was incredibly good (I recommend the smoked daikon for dinner), very clean, and with a family atmosphere. The lodge is literally 2/3 min from the ski area and close to the bus stop if you need to go to the town.

We loved every single minute of our stay in Lodge 401! From the clean rooms, great breakfasts and warm hospitality, Rhys and his team was always available to help if anything. The whole process of snowboard equipment rental, ski lift passes and transport was also very easily taken care of promptly by them and we didn’t have to worry at all. Even was able to get our snowboard boots fitted in the comfort of the lodge! To top it off, the lodge is also within (legit) walking distance to the ski lifts and gondola, which was a warm welcome after tiring ourselves out on the pistes. Thank you to Rhys and team for the help rendered, including helping to make reservations and drinks. We see the hard work you put in and appreciate it loads!

Excellent stay at the Lodge 401! We loved our stay here. Great location to the Ski resorts, service was excellent, delicious food, and fabulous room. The host Rhys was very accommodating and he made sure our stay at the Lodge was the best highlight of our Japan trip!

Everything was great. The room was spacious, clean, cozy, plus it has a beautiful forest view. Superb hot breakfast. The host Rhys and Zoey was very friendly and helpful to get us to the lodge and restaurant. I personally like the vintage atmosphere this lodge have. Would love to come here again next time!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Lodge 401. Our room was lovely with a beautiful view of the snowy forest. The location is great- just a short walk to the Annupuri lifts and the lodge has everything you need- a delicious cooked breakfast every morning, coffee machine, a bar for après ski drinks, great drying room and wonderful hosts in a relaxed and comfortable environment. Rhys was amazing; always smiling, friendly and super helpful, assisting us with lift tickets, ski hire, local knowledge, dinner reservations and transport. We will definitely stay again next time we visit Niseko.

The location is great! Just a short walk to Annupuri gondola! Great place to stay! Very cozy and clean with the awesome breakfast! The host, Rhys was so helpful, thank you for the driving! Really grateful that can stay a few days in this Australia-style design housing. Great staying with a different style in Niseko. I would definitely recommend this lodge if you are in Annupuri! All the things are just perfect. Good stay for solo and family travellers.

It’s just next to the Annupuri Ski Resort! Very convenient and cozy! The breakfast every morning was superb and we enjoyed every moment there. Rhys was also very helpful with the ski equipment rental and everything.

We ended up making a last-minute booking at Lodge 401 to take advantage of the early ski season and were some of the first guests at the lodge since re-opening. This lodge is in a great location to the ski fields, which are only a few minutes short walk away and excellent if you are new to skiing or snowboarding. In addition, it is a quick walk from either the snow shuttle or the public Niseko bus. An excellent indoor / outdoor Onsen is only about a 5-minute walk away. The lodge has been renovated and looks great. The owner, Rhys was extremely helpful and made our trip stress free and pleasant – and great to meet a fellow Aussie! He was able to assist on our first night in organising return transfers to the airport, got us discounted ski tickets and arranged the ski hire all from the comfort of the bar. He was always checking we were okay, helping us organise things and even drove us out to dinner. He also has a background as a Chef, so we always woke up to a hot café style breakfast in addition to a continental buffet. The only downside with our trip was Annupuri being quite small, and limited options for food. There is no convenience store and whist we were there was only two restaurants open. However, that is because we are early in the season and once a few more open up it will be fine. Rhys was also looking to do a light dinner menu which would be all you would need most nights. The Indian restaurant down the road is a must try. In summary, we would strongly recommend staying here and if we ever come back to Niseko, we will stay here again.

Best breakfast I've ever had at any hotel or lodge. Rhys went out of his way to accommodate us in every way possible. He gave us excellent recommendations and was willing to drive us around town. The room was incredibly comfy and the lodge itself is unbelievable. Even for a short trip, this will absolutely be one of the most memorable parts of our trip. We can't wait to come back again next year.

I liked everything about lodge 401! it was located right beside the slope so we didn’t have to remove ski equipments when going back. the owner was so nice and helpful in every possible way. and the breakfast ! I fell in love with his cooking lol definitely coming back and recommend to all
