Everything was excellent: the location, traditional room, Japanese breakfast, staff, hotel baths, and proximity to Zenko-ji. Our stay here allowed us to experience the epitome of Japanese omotenashi.

Breakfast was a little early but definitely worth getting up for.

We booked one of the deluxe rooms, it was beautifully furnished and decorated in Japanese style. The breakfast was amazing with many small dishes to sample and it was different the two days we were there. The Ryokan is on the main street to Zenko- ji temple with many lovely gift shops. Easily accessible to Nagano central by bus or a walk of around 25 minutes

The location is great, just a short walk along a shopping street filled with local gifts, to the Zuihoden temple which makes it easy to see the 5am Buddhist prayers. The rooms were nice, beds comfortable, and the breakfast was really good. The staff had good English which helped locating the off-site parking.

Location was PERFECT, very easy to get to from the Nagano Station and the temple was at your front door. The staff were SO friendly, felt like you were visiting a family member :) Breakfast was typica japanese brekkie which I loved. I loved having the onsen, very small but also so quiet, I had the onsen to myself most evenings!

The futons were a bit thin, the lighting in the room is way too bright and the bathroom smelled a bit mildewy.

Loved the onsen! Appreciated the fresh cold water to drink after onsen. Loved the location and the cleanliness of the inn. Loved the robes provided each day and the tea and snacks.

Great traditional ryokan that I can recommend to anyone! Nice staff, really good japanese style breakfast, beautiful rooms and so much more. I used the ryokan’s onsen every morning and night. Also great location as Zenkōji temple is located right next to the ryokan. 5/5 stars!

Authentic Japanese breakfast served at an agreed upon dining time. Onsens were authentic as were the futons on tatami mats. Great location to the main temple. Recommend this ryokan for a true taste of old Japan.

The Ryokan was truly a homey place, where we felt welcomed and well taken care of. The breakfast was great and very filling. We also loved the room, which had a great traditional feel to it and enjoyed sleeping on the futons very much. Its location close to the Zenkoji Temple was amazing too! You felt truly immersed in the atmosphere of the surroundings. The onsen bath was also very pleasant to use. Thank you for a wonderful and unforgettable experience!

Everything! The ryokan is charming and immaculate, the owner and staff are warm and welcoming, the food is great, and the location is central to activity.

It was very very loud in the morning. First morning, from 6am onwards, other guests and staff were discussing in front of our room door which felt like they were standing in our bed. Walls and doors have zero noise protection. Second morning at 6:45am staff was placing mugs on wooden tablets, preparing for all rooms, again right in front of our door. It shook us out of our sleep, both days we were very tired as we woke up roughly. Please be considerate of people being on holiday who do not wish to be woken up. Some other room had also "wake-up service" but that service was so loud, that we heard it as well. Even though it was all beautiful, we would not come again as we love to relax and sleep on our holiday.

Staff was very kind and helpful, green tea in room had great quality and the snacks as well. Nice and traditional old house to visit for some nights. We did not try their breakfast or dinner, thus cannot judge on that.
