Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomWasn't enough breakfast available - missed out completely the first day. Came down much earlier the next day and got the last few breakfasts. Wasn't easy to find the hotel, but in their defence we were very tired. Rooms were advertised as soundproof and definitely weren't (could hear my sister coughing on the floor below)
Hotel was clean and tidy. Bed was comfortable and bathroom was almost the same size as the bedroom, amazing! Staff were friendly (when we saw them). Check in on the spot was easy (didn't bother with doing it in advance). Good for the money, happy with our choice

GermanyThe layout of our room was so weird that the space we had was even smaller than the smallest hotel we had so far. It was absolutely difficult to open and handle just one big suitcase and we had two of them. The bathroom was also not seperated by a door, just a roll up curtain. There was only one coin washing machine and dryer, which makes it very unconvenient to wash your stuff when other guests don’t pick out theirs on time and leave them in the dryer over night…
Almost next to the Kushida Shrine and very close to Canal City. You have a lot of convenience stores in walking distance and a big supermarket. Getting there from Hakata station is also very easy, just one subway station and a bit of walking. It was so convenient we sometimes decided to skip the subway and walk the 13 minutes since the route is very easy to navigate. Can’t say anything about the staff as this is an unmanned hotel, but our check in went very smoothly. Opening and locking the room doesn’t require a key, just a PIN code that is assigned to you on check in, which was absolutely comfortable! No room keys to lose!

RussiaBreakfast is nothing special. Coffee machine is turned off at night. Common area is quite small and not really suited for work.
The hotel location is great. Historical temples and museums nearby.

Italythe bathroom didn't have a door but just a screen that you can pull up and down. And the lights are centralized so if you want to turn on the light in the bathroom during the night the whole room will light up. Which could be uncomfortable if travelling with someone.
The self check-in is very fast and easy. On the first floor you con find extra towels, chargers and even pajamas. In the morning they offer a small breakfast (noodles, rice bowl) and coffee all day. The room is small but we did not have luggage so it was fine and it was really clean. The bed was comfortable and I couldn't really hear noises from other rooms. Lastly the location: east to reach with the subway and there are several things to visit just a step away.

JapanThere is a structural beam in the shower, effectively making the height of the ceiling in the shower about 140cm. Was informed by staff that this is the case for all rooms.

ThailandNothing in particular, if something that could be improved. It would be a map with some recommended places for tourists be able to get around like local.
Location which is close to everything you would need while hide away from main road (Supermarket, Bus stop, Department Store and old fashioned plaza) The place will give you a good break and coziness. A thoughtful hotel management system that suits self service for any traveler who visit for the first time or occasionally visitor. Ahead check-in is also available. Room is compact but packed with everything you would needed. There's even disinfection spray available.
