Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil and North Carolina. For properties in these regions, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Takao-san and his partner were amazing hosts that helped us every step of the way, even for reccomendations for which mountains and restuarants to head to (they even took the effort to call and make additional reservations) We booked the mobile home, which was incredibly modern, clean and sleek, 10/10 reccomend. There was also an onsen, which is fantastic after a hard day on the slopes

Super clean and feels like home as soon as you walk in. The onsen was really nice too. Thank you to Takao and his wife for taking such good care of us while we were there. They were so accomodating helping us out with discounted lift tickets, showing us where to go for the shuttles, driving us wherever we needed to go. Definitely staying here again when we go back. It’s also a super short walk to the Main Street in Echoland.

AustraliaGreat stay - definitely recommend. Takao and his wife are great hosts. Takao did the pickup and drop-off at the train station at the start and end of our trip. Always met with a smile and greeting when we stepped in the front door. Spacious room, large king bed, clean - couldn't ask for more.

New ZealandThe hosts were the loveliest people, very hospitable and helpful. Takao drove us to and from the bus terminal multiple times. The location was perfect, right in the middle of Echoland, just steps away from bars, restaurants, grocery store, and shuttle bus stop. The onsen is amazing, you book in for a private session free of charge.

AustraliaThe location of the property is perfect for those who are planning to ski, or just want to stay close to cafes and restaurants. There is great places to eat less than 200m away, and the shuttle bus is also very close. The host is so lovely, and goes out of his way to pick you up and drop you off to the bus / train station at the start and end of your trip, and is always around to greet you. The private onsen is also amazing, and is the perfect way to end the day after being on the slopes. I can’t recommend more!!!

AustraliaEverything was great!
I booked Hotel Soyokaze for six nights for our January skiing holiday in Hakuba. Our booking was two rooms - one for the adults & one for my older teens. (For any Aussies out there, the decor is similar to bed & breakfast/country style). Soyakaze is a lovely & quaint 'lodge-style' accommodation in the heart of Echoland. It had everything we needed - a good-sized room, comfortable beds, a clean bathroom with good water pressure, plus easy-to-use washing & drying machines! The ski equipment drying room is excellent. A gorgeous wood fireplace in the communal dining area is a nice place to sit and relax. The location was brilliant, with cafes, restaurants, bars, ski rental & bus transport just a few meters away on the main strip of Echoland. After a long day of skiing or sightseeing, you can book private relaxation at the hotel's Onsen, which is magical! If you prefer breakfast or dinner at Hotel Soyokaze instead of at the many options available on the street, you can book with advance notice. We booked breakfast the day before, but dinner might require more notice - so remember to check with the hotel. You can purchase discounted ski tickets from Hotel Soyokaze for IIMORI ZONE/ Able Hakuba Goryu & Hakuba 47 ski resorts. This was so convenient because our ski lessons with 'Hakuba Snow Sports' commenced here. Our host & hotel owner, Takao (Tukka), was AMAZING & was so kind & professional to ensure we were happy from when we arrived to when we left. Leaving was so sad because we felt we were leaving behind a good friend. Thank you, Tukka, for EVERYTHING; we had such a great time at Hotel Soyokaze & fully appreciate your hospitality.

AustraliaTakao and his wife were honestly highlights of this trip, always making sure you get your reservation for the private onsen and giving great food advice, you’re in the heart of echo land, 1 min from the shuttle buses and 2 from the convenience store along with many restaurants surrounding. We tried the public onsen just for the experience and realised how lucky we were as you have the same thing at the hotel it was such a luxury after a day on the slopes. Sadly my partner hurt his back on the last 2 days but Takao helped with some special pain relief patches and drove us to the pharmacy. We absolutely LOVED our stay here. The rooms are also very large which was refreshing to not be walking over our suitcases compared to other Japanese accommodation

AustraliaWe stayed at Hotel Soyokaze for 12 nights and had the best time. It is possibly the best location in Echoland - close to cafes, ski hire, best restaurants, multiple bus shuttles and convenience stores. Takao went above and beyond all expectation. Very helpful for resort recommendations (and discounted tickets!), dinner reservations, transport and general chit chat. We loved our time at Hotel Soyokaze and will not be staying anywhere else when we are back at Hakuba!

AustraliaThe property was really well located for buses to the slopes and good restaurants in the evenings. No need for taxis, everything was within walking distance. The private onsen at the property was available every night and was amazing. Plus, having a washing machine and dryer to keep things clean and dry was a great bonus.

Our hosts, Takao and Naoko were an absolute delight. Takao picked/dropped us off to the Train Station. Hotel Soyokaze is located just off Main St in Echoland and so close to the ski hire, ski bus stops and the convenience store. Takao would also make dinner bookings for us-we really enjoyed Isakaya Hie. Excellent washing and drying facilities available. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Hakuba, but our hosts made it such a memorable holiday.

United KingdomEcholand is not the most central location for bars/restaurants/supermarkets etc, it's a bit quieter (though we still had some very nice meals there). You do need to get the bus to all of the ski slopes in the morning if you don't have a car, but the bus stops are about 100m from the hotel. It wasn't a huge issue for us, but just something to be aware of if you're planning on going out a lot!
We had a lovely stay at Hotel Soyokaze, the hotel was very clean and comfortable. Our host Takao was so friendly and really helpful, he booked local restaurants for us and even gave us a lift to the slopes on our first day. The best part was the private onsen which looks out on a little garden - we relaxed in there every evening after skiing and it was so good for the muscles! We had breakfast at the hotel every morning too and it was good. If (when!) we come back to Hakuba we would definitely stay here again.
