We found the onsen beautiful but at times a bit too hot to enjoy.

Breakfast was great with lots of options. The staff were so lovely and very willing to assist with rides to see the snow monkeys, as well as picking us up at the train station and dropping us at the bus stop for the ski bus. They also provided space in the lobby to store skis.

I knew it was a Japanese style hotel but taking shoes off every time we came in & out was a pain. Futons were ok but the tiny, bead filled pillows were horrible - my coat rolled up was preferable. Our sliding door opened up onto a winter wonderland of snow covered open space, but my son & I were told we were not allowed to access the space. There was an unpleasant smell throughout the hotel - maybe from the onsens? No/few food options nearby.

Pick up & drop off service was super helpful. Communication prior to stay was speedy. Private onsen was an amazing surprise.

It was snowing when we arrived. They have a shuttle that shows up at the hours a train arrives and we were surprised they were there to pick us up. It really made it easier for us. The room was spacious and had amazing views of the snowed on mountains and roofs all around. They also had additional blankets, ready to be used when needed. When we arrived, we hadn't booked for dinner, but there was a nice little hole-in-the-wall restaurant nearby that they directed us to. On the next day we did book for dinner and I would highly recommend it. It was pretty amazing. Finally, the Onsen facilities had both an indoor and outdoor one (male and female separated). On a snowy day, the outdoor Onsen was incredibly nice and picturesque.

The staff were exceptional. They were very friendly and accommodating, and even offered us rides to places. The rooms were quite spacious, and the breakfast had a large variety of food.

My son didn't like the smell of the onsen. this was overcome by closing the doors.

The staff were so helpful and receptive. They took us up to the Snow Monkey park and picked us up again. It snowed overnight and they drove us to the train station in the morning. We had a private onsen room which was marvellous. Also the clothing and food included was beautiful.

Guests are only allowed one towel for the duration of the stay. Rooms and other facilities seem a little out of date.

Nothing loved it

Amazing onsen. Massive room. Loved the Japanese pjamas. Good food. Beautiful staff. We couldn’t find somewhere open for dinner and hadn’t booked at the hotel so the concierge phoned a local place (that has turned us away already due to being g full) got us a booking and walked us there.

Surrounding is quite and not much restaurant nearby. Need to walk a bit!

Even though hotel not that very far from the train station, but good thing is they allocate driver for pick up the guest which I like very much. On my arrival, suddenly heavy snow and very good have shuttle. The hotel also arrange free shuttle to Snow monkey resort. The onsen is superb with indoor and outdoor. The food is nice too. We have a very good experience! Even though staff may speak little English, but they are polite! Highly recommended!

It had a bit of a weird smell and is a bit dated, but it was comfortable and the staff were friendly. The traditional kaiseki dinner was good to try once with lots of different foods, but wasn’t really to our Aussie family’s taste (so I shouldn’t have included dinner in our booking).

Loved the outdoor onsen. Rooms were clean (if a bit dated). But worked ok for our family. The breakfast buffet was good, with plenty of options. Location was good, about a 5 minute walk from the station. Great to have a free shuttle to station with luggage and shuttle to snow monkey park.

The car parking arrangements were generous but a little awkward with concierge-only access to the parking area. The total bathroom area was generous but this was somewhat compromised by separation of the vanity, bath area and toilet spaces. Room lacked a hairdryer.

On site onsen was a nice bonus and the staff were welcoming and friendly. The rooms were very spacious with plenty of luggage storage options. Excellent buffet breakfast with broad food and beverage choices.

Breakfast buffet was a great option as most restaurants nearby don't serve breakfast. Great variety and menu changed daily. The transport arrangements were easy and the hotel staff was accommodating.

the lack of amenities in the onsen changing area and/or even in the room (coton swab and hair-tie are always nice to have) also to be more ecological and sustainable, there is no need to come clean the room and throw away toothbrushes every day. It would be nice to have the option to say no to cleaning the room during a 2 nights stay.

nice retro vibe of the hotel/ryokan indoor and outdoor onsen are nice the staff is very nice and the free shuttle to the train station and to Jigokudani is a big plus !

About the only thing I didn't really like was the pillow for the bed, and no other option available.

Good location and staff were very helpful. Free shuttle to and from monkey park and also to train station etc. was very good. Would definitely stay here again.
