Very detail of this hostel is excellent, and it can be one of the cleanest hostels that I've stayed! Host Ken was super nice and helpful. There are plenty of Muji amenities available. Location can be a little far from CBD but the train station is within 7mins walk.

It is already an extra amenity to have towels in a hostel. And this is just my preference. It would be great to add a few drops of fabric softener to the towels so they could be less abrasive on the skin.

Ken-san was very flexible and accommodating. I took the night bus from Tokyo and had a 10am appointment the day I arrive in Osaka. I wanted a proper bath before this, and a place to leave my luggage. I couldn't check in yet, but he considered my situation and permitted me to use the common facilities. I could've booked a 3-star hotel or an apartment advertised affordably, but I'm glad I chose this place. The room was also spacious, and the futon comfortable for a good sleep. I especially love the "Cow Road" yakiniku place, nearby, an unassuming shop manned by a couple. The wagyu was soooo good for the price. There were also two train stations nearby (7 minute and 15 minute walk). He also had all the extra amenities that even business hotels won't have, like hair straightener, band-aid (for walking a lot), Muji face and bath products, etc. I also liked the small details of the place interiors like the Chinoiserie design sink, the industrial feels coffee cup wall, etc.

Nothing really, location is not 'ideal' but it is great it is do-able with a train station nearby.

The Hospitality and the hangout place.

Quirky, comfortable hostel located in a quiet suburb of Osaka. It has good subway and train access to all the main attractions - I was able to get to Dontonbori, USJ, Nara, Mt Kongo without any hassles. The owner, Ken, is a friendly and welcoming host. He also has some great recommendations for local restaurants, there are quite a few hidden gems in the area! I would stay here again for sure.

One of my favourite hostels I’ve ever stayed in. Ken the owner is super nice and has made the place extremely comfortable for guests. Free laundry, free towels, free bottle of water each day and many other luxuries are available. Everything is clean and the rooms, kitchen and lounge are all great. Located in a peaceful neighbourhood but still has all the conveniences of shops and restaurants and is easily accessible by train to and from anywhere you want to go.

It's a bit far away from the first metro station. But there's a JR line nearby, I may just have been too intimidated to use it and not help myself actually 😆

I had a super good time at Caranashi hostel. Very comfy and Ken the owner was super cool 😎 I would definitely come back if I pass by Osaka

The location was great, in a more quit neighbourhood away from the centre of Osaka. It took me 5 minutes to the nearest train station from where you could get to all the sightseeing in Osaka. The hostel is very cozy and has around 5 guestrooms. This makes it very easy to get in contact with other guests and staff in the common room. The staff is amazing and also organizes sometimes things in the evening, like dinner or trying sake.

Good stay in a traditional Japanese style room

Well, it didn't affect my overall stay but for two nights out of four, I could hear my room neighbor snoring loudly as between the rooms is a traditional Japanese sliding paper wall (fusuma).

Very friendly host with some broken English, but we could still understand each other thanks to body language and translating app ;-) The Japanese style room matched the pictures. The lounge as well as the kitchen have been lovingly furnished which I didn't use them much. Daily one free water bottle is a plus. You can even buy beer from the mini bar and there are some ramen to buy. The location is also great. Not in a crowded touristy area, but still you can access to major stations (Tsuruhashi, Namba) quickly from Imazato. Bear in mind to take the Kintetsu line to the Imazato train station, not metro. There are some 24h convenience stores in the area to grab some food/drink anytime, and also a bakery if you want to eat breakfast there. If you travel in the summer, consider to regularly turn on the air conditioner as sometimes the high room temperature can be unbearable.

Hostel Caranashi's owner is wonderful, he has filled the place with all the things that he enjoys. He is extremely friendly and is wonderful to chat with. I loved coming back at night and enjoying a good conversation over a nice couple of drinks. The place itself is wonderful, especially the main room with the wide windows. The owner will show you local places that he really likes as well and it is wonderful to be able to go to those places rather than non-tourist spots. You really get to see a person in all the places he shared. He is extremely friendly and will really want to make you feel welcome and has put a lot of his heart and soul into this place.

The hostel is little far away from the Shinkansen station, which was inconvenient when I wanted to make one-day trips to Nara and Himeji.

Unlike other places, this hostel is run by hosts who live there (it's a private house) which allows you to get to know some locals. These people are very friendly and polite. The room I stayed in was a traditional japanese-style room with futon bed. It was comfortable and clean. The common areas were also clean. Amenities were provided.

Not exactly a con, but as the property is traditional Japanese style, the partitions between some rooms are only a sliding paper screen and sound travels through easily. Earplugs are sold on the first floor.

The place is easy to find and located not far from Imazato station (approx 6min). The owner is very friendly and the place is cozy. Besides the usual towel and bath supplies, many other amenities are provided, even a bottle of drinking water daily. I think the owner put a lot of thought into what travelers would need for a comfortable stay. For this price, it is very reasonable and a great choice if you want to try sleeping in a traditional Japanese room.
