Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Australiathe drying room is a little outdated although it still works with wet snow gear dry by the next morning. The hotel is geared toward native speakers and therefore requires some translation for English speakers but this only adds to the authentic experience and I wouldn't want to change it.
Hakuba Alpine Hotel was a little gem amongst some much larger and popular hotels setup to attract English-speaking tourists. Getting to the hotel was easier just caught the bus from Nagano then a short 5-10min walk through the streets to the hotel. We found the Japanese style of the hotel amazing with everything kept incredibly clean and functioning. Photos don't do this hotel justice as many reviews have said before with the wood architecture and Winter Olympics posters on the wall great to look at. The hotel and room are kept very warm and the onsen is great to relax in after a day on the slope. The owner of the hotel is extremely hard working and always willing to answer your questions, he was very friendly and accommodating, even giving us a calendar at the end of our stay to remember the area, cant speak highly enough of Hakuba Alpine Hotel.

AustraliaGreat location, close enough to everything but not bothered by noise. Room was lovely and a good size. Having an onsen was a huge bonus. Food was delicious every day, wish we’d just booked full board instead of only doing a couple of dinners. The owner was really helpful and kind. The room also had hot water for tea etc and a fridge which was great. Bathrooms are typical small unit bathrooms, but liked having an extra sink outside it so we had space to spread out our bits and pieces.

SingaporeWhat's not to like about this place. I am rating it 10/10 :D
Great location. Near to lawson and local eating places. Located beside the main road so traveling was a breeze especially since we were driving. I enjoyed the onside onsen as well. Definitely will return! The rooms were clean and spacious.

QatarThe entrance is not that visible because we enter through the back street. The door entering the lobby is a bit of a hassle to open if you have luggage.
The room really spacious and comfortable. We didn’t get to use the space much since we only stayed 1 night. But the view was really nice from our terrace.

The service was exceptional! The staff were friendly and gracious - they were able to provide us with an early check in and check out which was an amazing assistance. The room was much bigger than expected, the futons were comfortable and the amenities were great.

AustraliaTraditional Japanese breakfast with lots of small dishes. These changed daily, but kids with western tastes might get sick of it like one of ours did. Even provided gluten free options for Coeliac party member. Manager helped arrange ski bag transport with black cat at the end of our stay.

AustraliaTbh - nothing.
I loved this place - Location, comforts, foods, bath - Everything that I needed for snow trip were there. We had breakfast included. Every meal was so hearty and tasty. We also requested for a dinner for one night which was really good! I would even consider having dinner every day there. The lodge is quite old but clean and well maintained. I loved the rustic vibe of the lodge and it was really lovely. If you are expecting modern fancy looking accomodation, this place might not be for you but give it a try! We are thinking of booking same place for next year. Proximity to bus terminal so getting around other mountains was so easy. Convenience store was 4 mins by walk - super close. Also town center was really close too.

AustraliaThe mattresses were too thin so not very comfortable. Set Japanese breakfast including rice and miso soup. The presentation was lovely but I much prefer a muffin and cereal.
Very friendly gentleman is running the hotel. Helped us with booking restaurant, taxi and delivery of luggage directly to Narita airport.

AustraliaI think next time we will go with the beds. My children were happy sleeping on the futon but I found after 2 nights I was starting to ache and feel my age!
We booked the half board and each meal was prepared with great care. Dinner was the best ever! After eating here every night I found the food at Disney really dull in comparison!

AustraliaWe liked everything but some did not find the tatami very comfortable. When choosing between beds or tatami mats, make sure you understand the options. However, our host immediately tried to help our friends by bringing each person an extra mat.
We came here with two families for a ski trip. The accommodation is near the bus station so you can go to many resorts. However, just a two minutes walk is a bus stop to take you to Happo One, the closest resort, right in front of Woody's. We loved the breakfast, the onsen and the Japanese hospitality. Our host was great and organised a taxi for us on the last day and Black Cat services for our friends.

AustraliaWas a great spot, no complaints.
Excellent helpful staff. Great location. Very traditional. Make sure you are comfortable to sleep on tatami if you pick that style of bedding. Breakfast is great, very Japanese though so most western kids won’t enjoy it (unless they like cold fish). Nice onsen too.

The room is spacious and has wonderful views. Gorgeous breakfast and dinner, like we are eating at fine dining every meal. 3mins to ski shop and 4 mins to bus terminal, 5mins to Lawson. The hotel has the place to store our ski boots and boards. And of course, they have wonderful onsen, indoor and outdoor! I got there with the Tokyo airport shuttle bus, door to door, completely hassle free!

United StatesThe location of the hotel is ok, it's convenience to get the the Lawson across the street, but it will taxi/shuttle to/from train station or ski resort, I wish shuttle service will be provided in the future. However, the hotel owner is very helpful to call the taxi for us in our transportation needs.
This hotel is much better than the photos shown in booking.com, especially the onsen, the photos shown in booking.com needed to be updated, to show the nice and clean onsen. The dinner and breakfast provided by the hotel, is the best Japanese meals my family ever had, It's very delicious and fresh, we enjoyed and finished everything in our plates. The onsen is not big but very nice, it has 2 onsen - one outdoor and one indoor, both are very warm and fantastic feel, especially after ski.
