The onsens were perfect. As the property was quiet during our stay, we had the inside and outside onsen to ourselves. Restaurants not too far, and hosts were really lovely. We loved the traditional Japanese room with robes. Our hosts provided shuttle to and from the station, and took us to the monkey park which is a must see!

    We didn’t stay long enough!

The location was very convenient, clean and spacious. We are a family of 4 and had plenty of room. The property has its own baths and private onsen to access as well as very close to the 9 public onsens.

Beautifull house, excelent owners. Classic japonese house, with own onsen (there is even a private one, where I could relax together with my husband). They provide yukatas, japonese shoes and even kimonos in your stay! I just loved everything! And they take you in the train station (when you are arriving and leaving). Just awsome stay! 100% recommend.

We had an amazing time with our wonderful hosts. We enjoyed being picked up from the train station and also as it was the quiet season we were even shuttled to see the monkeys. The onsens breakfast and location are superb and we had amazing sleeps too. Thank you for having us.

The staff were the best of all our stays in Japan, guided us in English, and drove us between the station, ryokan, and monkey park. Also very responsive to messages. The private bath is a rotenburo, extremely comfortable. Multiple mattresses were stacked on the floor to make for a comfortable sleep, and the kakebuton was nice.

Nothing, this was our favourite place we stayed during our three week honeymoon in Japan.

Fantastic property with lovely hosts who speak great English :) There are stairs up to the rooms, but they are easy to climb. The owners are great people, very friendly and accommodating. The onsen are fantastic, both the shared gendered ones and the private one. This was our first time on futons and they were surprisingly comfortable! The pillows were also great, they were filled with grains instead of stuffing. The room was huge compared to the other rooms we stayed in elsewhere. The breakfast was great, it was very fun to try a Japanese breakfast and then put on our yukatas to go to the onsen.

It was my first experience at a Ryokan, so, not having a shower in the room took some getting used to for my family. Aside from that, all ok.

Check in was a breeze. The free parking was a plus, given the parking situation in Japan. The owners greeted us personally and were very helpful throughout the stay. Walking distance to many izakaya and restaurants. A very short commute to the snow monkey park and ski resorts. I would definitely recommend and would return.

Was not aware that the town shops and eateries closed around 2 so I was very hungry with no food to find on arrival. Luckily a store was opened where I bought a cup noodle and some chips. A good piece of info to have if you have a long travel day like I had prior to arrival. Eat en route!

Nice location to experience the public onsens (but the properties own onsen was actually nicer so extra points) and to visit the snow money park. The owner was kind enough to accommodate an early visit to the snow monkey park for me and then take me to the station for a late morning train. Greatly appreciated that I was able to fit everything in :) It was snowing when I was there but the room heating was sufficient to keep me warm :)

The room facilities are quite old but this matches the price so it is fine.

The inn's facilities and service are nice. The inn's outdoor onsen is brilliant for us to enjoy the night view with onsen. Although I live in another inn in Yudanaka on this trip, I like this outdoor onsen the most. 🙂 It is also interesting to explore the nine onsen of Shibu Onsen. The couple owners are kind and can speak nice English. The husband safely drives the shuttle and promptly answers the questions on booking.com. He is passionate about introducing the attractions to us.

    Hard pillow.

Large room, nice hosts superb location both for public baths and restaurants. Sure the place might need a spruce up, but my own home also for that matter and it is clean. The futton was confortable as it has extra padding for tender foreigners. The onsen on site is not luxurious but is good. As mentioned by others, the hosts are very nice. I was greeted at the station and at my request imediately whisked to the monkey park to benefit from good weather. Also as check out is in the morning but i was not going anywhere right away and the weather was bad , the hostess exceptionnaly let me use for a while a room for which she had a cancellation. This was a very nice gesture and a sign of true hospitality. I do not usually give a 10 score, as nothing is perfect in this world, but relative to my needs which are basic clean accomodation, good location, helpful hosts and reasonable price, i am happy to give that score as a token of my appreciation.

We had picked a breakfast option, but on arrival we were told it was only for one morning of our three night stay that had breakfast included. It was a shame as that's why we had paid extra to have breakfast every day before we went skiing.

A nice small ryokan run by a family. The onsen is a good size and there was a private one outside which you could use. They had kimono and yukata to use while you explored the onsen in the town. The rooms were very large and had en-suites. They had a coffee and hot water machine downstairs to use and lots of information about the area. There is free parking during your stay if you let them know in advance. The man who greets you is very friendly!
