Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

SpainWe had mixed feelings. I don't want to make a complaint, because Carmine is just starting the business, and he needs time to improve it. When we arrived at the place there was nobody there, and Carmine didn't answer the phone. We were lucky that a woman who works there (but didn't have keys) showed up, and offered to hold our bags until Carmine arrived. This welcome came as a bit of a surprise, as we had already given notice of our arrival time. We finally met Carmine in the evening, a nice man. We wanted to take a shower in the evening but the shower didn't work, it turned out that a switch in the room had to be turned on (this could be avoided with a note in the bathroom explaining where the switch is). The floors make a lot of noise, but we understand that this is normal in this type of house, but we could hear the noise from other rooms, and children crying or playing. The next day we went down for breakfast at about 9.30am. The breakfast room was very small with few tables. We had to wait for someone to finish and give us their table. It was very noticeable that no one from the staff came for the whole breakfast. When we arrived, there was no milk, no coffee, no juice, very little bread. No one came to check the breakfast room or to restock. The people who came after us could only have an apple juice and little else. The truth is that we were quite surprised. All in all, I think it is a place with potential but it has a lot of room for improvement.
The accommodation is located very close to the city centre. 5 minutes to Royal Crescent, and 10 minutes to the centre. For a 1/2 night stay it is acceptable but needs a lot of improvements. We had room 10 on the top floor. Very clean and spacious. The bathroom was old but practical. We also had a kettle with coffee and teas and there was a hairdryer and towels. Breakfast is ok if you want coffee and toast, but don't expect anything else. The wifi works well. our train was around 4pm, it was very nice that Carmine let us to leave the luggage for a bit in the place.

AustraliaThe room we had was probably a little bit too small but not a big concern as we were only there to sleep after travelling but probably needed to be conveyed more on the website.
Carmine the host is amazing. Extremely Friendly and went out of his way to help us. And we were assured that if there was a problem day or night that he would be there to help asap, which you could tell he meant. Breakfast provided by the host was fantastic. A main carpark behind the hotel provided excellent carparking facilities.

South AfricaIt would have been nice to have storage space for clothes etc in the bedroom, and a couple of shower caddies in the bathroom for toiletry storage. The wifi was poor in the bedroom but very good in the dining room, so possibly a booster would be helpful.
The location was very good and the room was nice. Carmine, the innkeeper, was excellent - very helpful and accommodating.

United KingdomThe shower wasn't very good at all (water presssure).
Location was very good. Just a short walk (10 min stroll) into the centre of Bath and all it's facilities on offer. We went on the last weekend of the Bath Christmas market. The room was not the biggest but was adequate for our needs. A clean room with a comfortable bed and 2 chairs.

United KingdomThe only complaint I have is the creaking floorboards above us. We could also hear other guests through the walls or people in the hallway but didn’t mind that too much. I understand that old houses are like that but the noise from the floorboards above us was quite disturbing.
We had a comfortable stay. It was a spacious room, clean and well-kept. The host was very polite and welcoming.
